I just threw brake line out last month ughhhh he had it sitting with all his other crap pile I kept tripping over

I only saved one short piece and I use that to reach up to keep the holes clear in the bottom of the AC window unit

That's the way it typically goes. as soon as you get rid of something there's a use for it.

So that should be like a 4ft long piece of brake line. Might be able to cut a piece off and still reach the AC.

lol and I got to the site and go right for the geese!!!

I am ill, cottonpatch geese!! dang gooserz is so dang loud!!!

cottonpatch.jpg
A friend of mine is known for her cottonpatch geese. Her husband had a bunch on their trailer he was shipping east when he brought my chickens to IL.
I think she was president or organizer of the cottonpatch geese group.

Since everyone's talking ducks and geese, can I move these fluff butts outside at 6 weeks old with things getting cooler out at night?
Now.
Ducks are ready for cold before chickens.

If I drove, it would have been mine weeks ago.
You don't drive?

May I ask why? Tell me to

if it is none of my business.

this would freak me out a bit and I have chickens lol
I love that picture. Thanks for posting.

What are the rules? Do I have to have a credit card? JK
You're supposed to be able to use paypal. A debit card or paypal account would suffice in lieu of a CC.

I was thinking in terms of a "scavenger hunt" I will ask for a pic of something and you have to run around your house take a pic and load it. Google pics do not count-has to be something you have. 15 items. 5 minutes per item. first person to post the pic gets a point. person with most points at the end of the game wins...... Sound ok?? Shipping is $20.

I will not require a credit card with 3 digit access on back for payment but good faith is always nice

My camera died and it's complicated to get a pic from my phone to the computer in a timely manner. I'll watch though, so have fun and good luck to all.

The raccoons are EVIL here!!! They will chew through anything they can!!!! I would hang garlic and bless the coop with holy water if I thought it might help!!!!
lau.gif
Here too. The last encounter, they chewed a hole through to pop door. New ones are made of aluminum. Once they pulled the siding off of a building to gain access.

I haven't had one yet that learned how to swim. Guess I'm a poor teacher. Buzzards are circling as I type for the last one. Pretty mean here as well not like yours though, I think ours get too much cat and dog food from neighbors leaving food out at night to be too mean
Raccoons are great swimmers, just not inside a cage in a trashcan filled with water. Or held under with a catch pole.

I hope tomorrow is cooler and that they don't lose more homes.

I have to wonder about the balance between the cost of fighting climate change and the cost of fires, drought, floods, etc..

Sounds exciting! Wish I had a broody hen!!

Evening to you and all

Broodies are great. No electricity and no worries.
Try getting a couple cochins, brahmas, aseels.

Typically for chicks I will use a small zip tie. Then just keep an eye on it and replace it before it get's to tight.
Same here.

Will do! I'll make sure it isn't tight in the first place

Very busy, lots of walking. I enjoy my bird tending though. So much drama!
For chicks, I leave it loose but just tight enough that I can't slip it over the foot.
When they're baby chicks, you need to check ever 10-14 days. As they get older you can go longer - perhaps 3 weeks or so by the time they're a couple months.
By the time they're about 6-8 weeks, I switch to a #7 numbered leg band.

Thank you Sally, I just read through that

I don't think I have any probiotics but I could put ACV in their water if that is okay? Or only if they have a hen?

It is the one that had that unabsorbed yolk. It still has a tiny little bubble on it from that so I'm hoping it falls off but I am making sure to put iodine. It's a happy chick and active so I think it will do well, it just seems to need help. Hopefully its bottom doesn't get messy again. I will raise my brooder element tomorrow because they are getting taller and I won't want it to burn them!
Yogurt or kefir will work for probiotics. You can mix it with feed. Pet shops may have an avian probiotic powder.

welding has never been on my list of things I learned, I dont know anyone that could teach me.
I'll teach you but you'll have to come to MO. DC/AC arc and wire welding.

very interesting about the geckos etc. also that the hens have such large spurs! do they fight with them at all? use to protect? They are very very lovely chickens for sure. My WFS were the hardiest birds and easily hatched chicks out of all the breeds I have had already. And by flighty I mean they take off quickly to get away from me, not run to me like the other beggars. The icelandics & legbar are the same
I know that's how many use the term flighty but some (read that as urbanites) also assume it means they're escape artists.
I call them aloof. They're just not that into you - or anything else non-chicken.

Did you mean to comment on this? "With multiple flocks and multiple dominant cockerels do you have to worry about them fighting?"

I've thought about the Welly's before as well.
Yes I did and I went back and edited it. Sorry. Too many multiple quotes in there.
