Success Rate ~Little Giant Incubators

I was wanting to know how successful people have been with thier Little Giant Incubators. Ones like this.

We have had 2 batches, about a total of 50 eggs, & have only gotten 2 eggs to ever hatch. 1 chick each batch.

We set the humidity @ about 50-52% & temp ranging 99-99.5 degrees for 18 days with the eggs in a turner. Turned off turner @ 18 days & at day 20, One chick hatched both times. Can someone help? Does anyone have advice? & how much luck has other people had with thier Little Giant Incubators?

I've done three batches in mine, two of RIR chickens and one of guineas. I've gotten a 75% hatch rate or better each time. GOOD LUCK!
 
Where are you getting your eggs from? If they are damaged or infertile to start with that could be the reason for your low success rate.

I have only done one hatch so far and I have another batch underway. The first batch I hatched 2 out of 8 but only 3 even developed at all. They were shipped from pretty far away in the middle of the summer and I think that might have something to do with it.

I think that there is much more room for error with the LGs but if you are consistently turning and keeping a check on the temp. and humidity levels it can all work well.

Your initial humidity seems high to me. I thought the 40s was better for the first 18 days.

I hope an expert will come along but I thought too high humidity makes for a smaller air cell and the chicks die in the shell.
 
That's the same model I used. (I got it online thru Ace hardware, tho).

started with 12 eggs, 2 "clear"/infertile... not 'bators fault.

of other 10, 9 hatched and are healthy/happy cute fuzzballs.

the other egg stopped developing around day 15, and had been lagging behind the others in embryo AND air cell size, truly believe it was genetically doomed from the getgo.

Keep in a room with stable air temps (!!),

make TINY temp adjustments at a time, the control is VERY sensitive, but wasn't too bad once I got used to it. (I ran it for several days prior to setting up eggs, which REALLY helped me get the feel of it!!).

Oh, and my eggs were a "pickup", not shipped... Figured for my first attempt didn't want to add the UPS into the mix...

I have one. I have no problem at all with mine. I have had 100% hatches. The only time Ive had low hatch rates was on shipped eggs. I keep my temp at 100* I also dont worry with humidity. Works for me.

I have 19 eggs in mine right now. This is my first hatch. We added the fan kit. The eggs that I can see in when I candle seem to be alive. I'l let you know how it goes. My babies are due the 29th.

I have one also, but I threw out the thermometer that came with it...it was poop, and bought a thermo/hydrometer from Walmart for $6 and some change. Now I am getting 100% hatches. The thermometer that came with it was off by 3 degrees. After I tossed it, it's my favorite thing ever!!!!
