Hello Friends,

As you know BYC has been growing like gangbusters

With this growth we've needed to do some pretty big upgrades to the server and we finally pulled the trigger tonight.

The good news is that we've now got a TON of server power to handle all the fantastic growth. Unfortunately during the upgrade we lost all the post counts for every one of our members. We've been working feverishly to try and restore the post counts and have even pulled in the top tier Network Operations support. At this time none of the team members have been able to restore the post counts.

We're hoping to have a backup from 6 months ago, but we're not making any promises on our ability to restore them. The staff will be discussing options over the next few days, but we're leaning towards just abandoning the post count feature completely.

I take full responsibility for what has happened and thank you in advance for your understanding.

If you have any feedback, questions or suggestions, please post them here.

I like the post thing. As a newbie it kinda gives me some idea about how much experience the poster or postee has. I will know if they are new or have a lot of knowledge about the BYC. Maybe not posts all but levels of posting experience. That way I can be sure to know another newbie or defer to those which have a lot of info. It might be easier to keep up with as a level type thing.

but i like to post count feature

if the post count feature got left behind i would still love this place just as much

i also have a suggestion. it concerns the inbox/message storage. why not add a check box next to all the messages to make it easier to delete them, thus freeing up your inbox space? you know, like they have with the e-mail Inbox system

(edited for spelling errors)

We're not sure we'll axe the post count feature just yet, we'll keep you posted.

Regarding deleting PMs: There is a "Delete Multiple" link to the top left of the screen right as you log into the PM system.

The number of post counts really dont reflect experience. Some people are very chatty or play a lot of games and that increases their post count.

Registration date will tell you how long a person has been a member of BYC.
As for their experience, you'll have to get to know them by reading a lot of their posts to determine how experienced they are with poultry.
