Can you people tell me is Ivermectin good for Lices?Thank you!

It worked for me. Ivermec 8%, three drops between the wings.
I got a hen at a swap that was infested with lice. Called the vet and was told not to use it. She recommended puppy and kitten flea tick and lice powder. I put her in a plastic bag with her head sticking out . And did a shake and bake. Waited and did a repeat treatment in one week. It worked like a charm.
1) it depends on what kind of lice the chickens have- there are several types. ivermectin will kill the kinds that feed on blood, not the kind that chews on feathers. what kind do you see (where are they and what do they look like?)
2) the topical powders (permethrin/pyrethrin & carbaryl) will get both types.
3) ivermectin kills many internal worms, as well as mites.
4) ivermectin is off label for laying hens, so has lots of 'baggage' if you use it.
5) ivermectin can/will kill if you overdose it, it has a much more narrow range of safety than the topical powders.

Actualy I did not saw lice or mites because I need glasses but I saw clutch of white eggs on there butts feathers.And I just spent $34 for botle Ivermectin and am thinking will be nice if can use it for this problem

If you see globs of white or grey egg masses at the bases of feathers around the vent- those are blood sucking types of lice. Ivermectin will kill them- see 2,3,4,5- they still apply. Poultry dust is cheap, and works well.

what kind make clumps under their chins? I saw those on a few of my silkies this past week but have not done anything about it because I am moving pens before the rain hits tomorrow. I am almost done moving pens and will hopefull get to treat the lice Monday. Any tips? May as well do everybody. Any MORE tips on how to do a full grown midget white turkey tom? I'm thinking shake 'n bake will not do so great with him.
If my chickens had lice, or round worms, I would not use ivermectin to treat it. There is such a fine line for over dosing with ivermectin even if applied topically. round worms i would use pyrantel pamoate, Lice is best controlled with powder.

I am not new to chicken and can tell you that I have safely use the pour on for years with great success... smallest birds 1 drop... Most hugest birds 6 to 7...on the skin...not on the feathers so a helper would be nice. It is quite effective for bloodsucking lice. Enjoy the peace of knowing they are parasite free for months (6) Some ppl wait a year...I will wait if I am usign Ivomec.. but will do every 6 with the Durvet brand pour ons... I don't use the injectable.
