Two new blue runner ducklings are coming to my house next week! I'm so excited!
But I need to think of something new to use as a waterer. Things I've used in the past made the brooder way too wet! What do you guys use that keeps more water inside the waterer and keeps the ducklings out?

Something under the waterer that is slightly larger than the base of the waterer, and separating the bedding of the area right around the waterer from the rest of the bedding.

I have used a two-piece broiler pan, mixing bowl with plastic tub in the bottom, and large shallow rubber bucket with cat food cans under the 3 gallon waterer.

I also just have to change bedding regularly, and now that they are seven weeks old, the waterer and food come out of the brooder at night.

I just put a standard chick waterer in a clean kitty litter pan that I save for that purpose. I put a thin layer of bedding in the litter pan and it keep the brooder dry other then in the pan. Very simple to clean once a day.

Find an empty Cool Whip container, cut a slice out of the lid, place the lid back on it, and fill with water.

The slice has to be large enough to allow the ducklings' bills to go all the way in & under the water; I made mine large enough for the whole head. Also, I started with a cottage cheese container and that got too small very quickly.
