This poor thing I sold as a baby. Just got her back from a woman that wanted a "house goose" to dress up and what not. She can't even hold up her wings, and look at how pale her beak and feet are. I'm afraid she won't make it, or if she does she will probably have health/fertility issues her whole life.

The lady called me the other day wanting to bring her back. She's just not happy here, she says. OK. My heart sank as soon as I saw her condition. Now that I have informed the woman that the bird is extremely deficient she's trying to say I sold her an unhealthy bird when it was a week old. I have all the siblings except 3 and NONE of them look like this. And the people that bought the others want more. I feel I have made a terrible mistake by even dealing with this woman at all.

**ETA 8/23** Here she is yesterday! Her neck feathers are completely grown back. Sooo- for future reference- 2 weeks should do it! Still needs a little color, but so much better.

What a lovely color she is.

How old? She looks to me like she is getting ready to molt, so maybe she isn't in as bad a shape as you think.

If she is not used to being outside, I would introduce her slowly to the sunshine. She doesn't need sunburn on top of everything else.

Good food, sunshine, and exercise and I suspect she will be up and healthy in no time.

If the wings aren't actually twisted, they just need exercise. If she has lots of room, she will exercise them herself. She probably needs some niacin added to her drinking water.

She's just from spring hatch. I think the droopy wings are just lack of exercise and deficiency. One of them she can hold up sometimes. The garden has a bunch of trees and grass so she's been wandering around a little bit, then sitting in the shade, then eating some sand....Its just so hard to look at her without shuddering.

Sunshine, grass, exercise, proper food and the chance to be a goose = I think she'll be ok. You are right about the poor color of her bill and feet and very poor feather quality. Is she carrying normal weight? Good luck on rehabilitating her.

Honestly, people that can't put their love and time into caring for animals shouldn't be caring for animals at all, it pains me to see this. And it's definately not your fault! I'm so glad that you got her back and that now she is in a loving, caring environment and I hope she does much better

These are some of the hatchmates- the toulouse and the cotton patch. They are still getting a few "big bird" feathers on thier backs, but you can see the difference environment makes!
