WOA! I'm BLOWN AWAY! Those are some...AMAZING photos! How often does this happen? Did they really chase him off? He didn't try to bite them or the cat? What does the cat think it is doing?!

It's an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Yes, you can imagine the noise those birds were making.

That is awesome. I am mad at my guinea's right now. They flat out refused to go up tonight. They will have to do something awesome to make up for me worrying tonight.

Fortunately it is not often that its a rattlesnake that gets them riled up. More often its a rat snake, and I enjoy the drama when they have it on the run, chasing along in a V-pattern. Last spring they alerted me to an egg robber in the goose nest and I retrieved my camera, because i just couldn't believe a ratsnake could swallow one of those huge eggs.

It swallowed it alright. This was an easy snake to capture. I simply fitted the door on the box and relocated the big guy away from my chickens. [Hope its okay posting so many pics ... anyhoo this is all I have ... hope you folks enjoy 'em.]
