post your chicken coop pictures here!

Yes it's great to have a quick check and came in handy when one was brooding and beachside they free range I can check for the cats that roam :)

We used livestock panels and combined them with our (cleancoops.com) coop. This is our progress so far. We are on such a steep slope that we have had to alter the design as we go. We added a hog panel/wire ramp in the stairwell, interior wire panels on the windows and will install an auto door this weekend. We are still planning to add a chunnel and hoop run out to the right in the next few weeks. We love the panels and we have used them for a lot of things around the house such as garden fence, tomato trellis, garden stakes, etc. We used old .5" drip line to line the passageway under the coop. We clenched it on with hog rings so the girls won't get snagged as they go by.

Cute is nice and I love when chickeneers get security issues straightened out! Nice.

Do your chickens have a permanent well-secured coop? Tractors are nice for daytime foraging but the security issues with tractors as permanent coops are numerous unless it's wheeled onto a slab or patio where predators can't dig under. Just because you don't see the night critters doesn't mean they're not around. We saw our goat-sized Raccoon come out of the city sidewalk drain at 2:00 a.m. and none of our neighbors were aware we had Raccoons in our block!

The roof is just framing no plywood yet just installed and covered with plastic. I got the solar panel from autozone it was $20.00 and it works very good at keeping the battery charged up . I put 3 12v lights on it 2 outside and 1 inside. It has been working for apx.9 weeks . And so far the battery is staying changed just find.
How does the battery stay charged when there's no sunlight? Cloudy or rainy days?

ok i have to be the one to ask what is cctv and how much did it cos and from were did you get it.
closed circuit television.

Security cameras. I bought a DVR (digital video recorder) from tiger direct I think. It came with 8 cameras that have infrared capability. (ability to see in the dark). You can view you cameras live and review video if you wish. It varies on cost. My DVR can hold 16 cameras and has 1 TB of memory. I think I spent around 300 for the set. I bought additional cameras to use as well that were upgrades from what the kit came with. There are many cameras you can get. You can get a fixed shot which is just a stationary camera or you can get a PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) which allows you to control it remotely and move it around and zoom in and out. My DVR gives me the ability to view cameras when I switch my TV to VGA mode or I can access them via an app on my phone if I'm away from the house.

As long as you aren't overcrowding chickens in the space you have size doesn't matter - security is the more important issue and important that predators can't dig into the coop - chicks are tasty pickin's to Raccoons who kill not so much for food but for the sport of the kill.

I have a small 60' x 20' area backyard that my chickens can actually forage/free-range and not to overcrowd I won't go over 6 chickens in that space and have plenty of hiding lean-to's set up for them. I have about that same area in vegetable garden that they can forage during the winter when all the plants are dead. I have a 2-foot plastic-coated rabbit fence dividing the chicken area from my garden area and the girls respect the barrier even though they can easily fly or jump over it. Chickens are such easily trainable pets and creatures of habit. Even if the rabbit fence is left open they still respect the barrier and don't come into the garden area unless we "invite" them. We never chase or scare them out of an area. We just gently pick them up or walk them out and they get the idea that they don't belong there.

I just LOVE chickens - all ours are gentle tempered non-wild temperaments. We stayed away from the wilder flightier tempered breeds like Campines, Braekels, Penedesencas, Fayoumis, flighty bantam breeds, etc. We have non-dual purpose breeds that aren't heavy and therefore easier on our feed bill.

Looks like you enjoy your girls to have such a lovely setup.

The battery is only running 3 small lights . It will keep them on for over a week or so with no sun . When the sun comes out it only takes 1 good day of sunshine to change it back up again. But even a little sun will do some charging.
