This is our Barred Rock roo. In Kentucky, they call this type of chicken a "Dommer", so I have been calling him "Jeffery"



This is a closeup of his feet...he is the only one with feet like this. Is that what leg mites look like? I understand they're fairly easy to get rid of. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it, whatever it is. But if it is mites I want to get rid of them. What do you think? Sorry if it's blurry. I can try for a better pic tomorrow. Thanks.
 
Yep, those are Scaley Leg mites. I know this isn't the funnest thing but it's what you got to do:
Supplies:
Corona Lanolin Ointment
Paper towels (for wiping it off your hands and the feathers)
A partner... Optional (just in case you'll need help holding)

Procedure:
For the next few weeks, everyday, smear the Ointment onto his legs, and the mite should be gone in a few months. Try not to get it on his feathers.

In lieu of the ointment mentioned above, you can use Vaseline, or any kind of thick oil - your goal is to smother the buggers! If you do a search here for scaley leg mites you'll see different cures including mixtures.
 
Just went to a NPIP class and they said to dip the legs up to the hock, no feathers in one of the following:
motor oil, diesal fuel. kerosene, vegeatable oil. Someone asked if baby oil or mineral oil would work, they said it might. But yes you are trying to suffocate the mite. DO not dip the whole bird just the feet and legs up to the feathers.
 
Thank you for the responses. I'm sure I can find almost all of the above around here. I think I'd try vaseline or vegetable oil though. Not sure about motor oil or kerosene.
I've seen other posts talking about bag balm, which is like vaseline. Someone else mentioned using either PAM cooking spray or WD-40. I would try PAM before the WD-40 though.
I'm glad it is a simple fix, and none of my other birds seem to have them yet. I suppose a positive side effect to the treatment would be to get him more accustomed to being around people and associate people with the feeling of relief from the mites? It seemed to work for my goat when I took that tag out of her ear. (it was pinching her and she didn't like it)

Well, 2 doses later - first night Bag Balm, second afternoon Vaseline - and his legs already look sooo much better! No pics cuz I'm not going out in the rain right now, but he is definitely better. Thanks for the help!
 
I am having problems with my chickens too they look similar to your pictures
One of my lot is raising its leg and shaking I have sprayed with scaley leg mite treatment.
