3" Drain pipe chicken feeder. Cheaper then PVC:)

Mine is made of four inch pvc and I still had a problem with it only flowing out a little way into the feeder tube. What I did was change out the 90 to 2 45's and it flows better with not such a tight corner to go around.these feeders work well for a few chickens but if your feeding a lot of birds the feed will not push out more than a foot or so and doesn't allow many birds to feed at a time so there will be some fussing going on while some feed while others wait but they will work it out and it does save food and keep it cleaner.

I had a 90 degree and it didn't work well so I did the same switched to 45 degree seems to work well. I do tap the pipe and that helps bring the food down.

Did you cut the long pipe that fits down into the 90 or did you just leave it as it is? The one that holds the feed?

I took out the 90 and put in a 45 instead. I did cut the feed tube about a week ago. Just a little shorter than 3' .

I do however have to shake the tube for the feed to move though. Not sure why but no big deal.

Great idea, I want to do this. However, do you have a video that showing this in action? I'm afraid a 90 angle will still not work (feed get stuck or does not flow well).

Thanks for this idea, especially the tip about drain pipe. At our hardware store it's labeled "Sewer PVC", as opposed to the more expensive Cellular Core PVC DWV.

Anyway... how did you cut the rectangles in the side of your pipe? For me, cutting across the pipe with a saw was easy, but I can't figure out how to cut along the pipe. I've been using a utility knife but it doesn't go through.

Thanks...

What I ended up doing is using a sabre saw. First I drilled some holes at the corners of the rectangle to get started (best to start with small bits so as not to crack the plastic). Also, I had scored the edges of the rectangle with a utility knife trying to cut it out that way. That turned out to be important later, because when the plastic cracked while sawing, it cracked along the score lines.
