I have been reading about Safeguard for Tapeworms can one only use the dewormer for goats? I only have three chickens and it is quite a large bottle. How about the safeguard for dogs or cats, could I use that?

How often do I need to retreat?

What is the dosage?

I appears that only one hen has worms shall I treat them all or just her.

They don't free range.

What is the egg withdrawal period?

Safeguard only kills one type of tapeworm in chickens as far as I know. I've dealt with tapeworms and you'd be better off using valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer (albendazole) or zimectrin gold equine paste horse wormer which contains praziquantel, aka droncit or drontal to kill tapeworms in cats and dogs. Both valbazen and z-gold kill various types of tapeworms, here's some links regarding what types albendazole kills:

The safeguard liquid goat wormer can be used. Dosage is orally undiluted...1cc for giants, 3/4cc for large fowl, 1/2cc for standards, 1/4cc for smaller birds.
You'll want to treat all your birds. Withhold your birds feed for 24 hours before worming, it's ok for them to drink water. Once you dose them after 24 hours, redose them again 3 days later, then 3 days later again...worm them 3 times within 10 days.
If you use valbazen, withhold their feed for 24 hours. Dosage is 1cc for standards, 1/2cc for smaller birds. Repeat dosing in 6 days, then again 6 days later.
Or use valbazen with the same dosages, then 6 days later dose them with zimectrin gold equine paste wormer. Dosage for the z-gold is a "pea" size amount of paste given to each chicken. There is a 14 day withdrawal after last use of any of these products.
Tapeworms are difficult to get rid of. Most of the time they require multiple wormings to get rid of them, even then it's not always a guarantee and may require a couple of more wormings.

Thanks for all the info.

I do have a follow-up question though, why do I need to withhold feed for 24 hrs when I am administering the dosage undiluted orally?
