Family breakfast butts wishing you a happy Friday.
Silly Cookie is always walking g over the food bowl.
I haven’t had to move to two bowls of mash as there isn’t room for 9 chickens around one bowl. How did I get to having 9 chickens. That is insane!

Okay, so who has a favorite chicken at their side right this moment? My time off now is Aero shes a sweet Golden Orpington. I have two. I do this every day with my original tribe, unless I’m off somewheres else.View attachment 4226190
Somehow I knew Marie would be Turquoise/Teal & White... mostly white must be hard to spot her from the ground when she's up in the sky. If she's modified for higher altitudes does cabin pressure get adjusted at the same time?

I'm reminded of glorious pterodactyls (they fascinated me since childhood) when I see planes overhead ~ unlike the low-flying noisy window-rattling military, news, & firefighting helicopters & planes we get overhead often here. Living so close to the freeway & fire season mountains the aircraft are inevitable.

Low aircraft don't bother these sweeties ~ the Silkies know the difference between a hawk or aircraft. Photos taken 2013 same time water aircraft were overhead. No fear of the loud noise. 💕

Yes the new Pro ladder is so much better! I ordered an additional one to retro-fit the Cube.

Yes mucho $$$ and that’s really unwarranted for some things! It’s too bad because much of it is made well. Beyond their cost and profits I think they want it pricey to add to the perceived value.
Back in 2015 when I was researching larger coops/runs, the only thing holding me back on the Cube (They had no Pro then) was the funky step ladder at the time, no elevated perches inside, no partitions in nestboxes, no platform in front, & the runs were not as variable as they are now. Omlet still hasn't made elevated perches or front platforms yet ~ but I wouldn't be surprised if they come out w/ more adjustments in the future models. Loved all their past color choices ~ do they still offer color choices? They used to offer pink, purple, & green?

In 2015 we got the ChickenCondos' Barn Coop coop/run ~ at the time it was sturdier/taller than the Cube & had window options. It was more coop than we wanted at 1st... but after having city night predators like raccoons & possums & coyotes climb the wall we were glad to have it. Nice large swing open people door so we can stand normal.

I don’t count anything anymore…. Except at night, by morning I have forgotten - which is why I need to write on the wall! Haha!

I am afraid to count all mine. And it’s so hilarious because most of the time they are scattered around the barn in stalls, hiding behind things laying eggs…. So it doesn’t look like I have more than a couple, even outside, they are off under the trees or in the brush and weeds…. Buried in dirt in a pile….

Then I bring out the red bowl…. It gives them wings don’t you know 😆

Then it’s a tsunami of chickens! Where the heck do they all come from?! I swear half of them are my neighbours chooks too!

I have a sick chick, hock wobbling and cheeping pitifully. Brought it up to the house for some selenium gel mixed with canned cat food. Had to go catch a friend to sleep with on the porch tonight. I'll cover them with a blanket to help with heat.
Daughter has named it Nini (nee-nee?)

Maybe flat booties & tylenol for pain to straighten those feet. Not sure how much effort or time you have to do that before the handicap grows permanent? Poor sweetie 💕

Twister update

My beautiful Twister has passed away, she leaves a huge hole behind as she was quite the character, pecking at my leg for attention, and would hop up on my shoulder while I was working in my office.

Have the old girls pass away is sad, but to have a young hen pass on is just very depressing, she was just 2.5 yrs old and it makes me wonder if those leghorn genes had anything to do with it.

Good bye sweetie
