Okay one of my almost 1 year old Americaunas got into the goat pen,and apparently she hasn't figured out how to get out yet, even though its just as easy as getting in.

I found her, she was pretty limp and panting. So I brought her in the house, gave her a comfy place, some food and cool water. Is there anything else I can or should do for her? Shes one of my only laying hens and I really want her to be okay.

Im on it.
I dont have any chicken electrolytes. I do have plain unflavored pedialyte......i dont know if that would be okay?
My husband is on the feed store but I must have just missed him at his desk. I dont think he has his cell phone but I am going to try to get a hold of him.

i found one of my layers in the coop in the middle of the day. it was about 100 in there. she was panting so hard & pretty weak. i thought she was a gonner.
i mixed up a bit of flock raiser into a gruel. pretty wet. i stuck my finger in it & held it to her mouth. she would clean my finger when she wouldn't eat it in a bowl in front of her. i did this for awhile. the mixture of food & water seemed to save her. she perked up & is ok.

i hope this is of help to you. good luck.

Thank you very much! Shes not as limp now already just being in the house. My Roo is ticked off though. I keep hearing him out there talking, looking for her I suppose (shes one of his favorites!) hes very mad at me!

Yer a good chicken MAMA! Keep her in the house [in the A/C] till she is acting normal again, and then put her back outside in the evening so she can aclimate back into the heat....
