UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!!!!!!! Chickens Murdered in DeBary Florida!!!!!

I know it seems like progress, but this is just not going to work for us here in Debary. We are fighting to get the limits changed. Under the proposal, you can only have 3 chickens, and they have to be in the coop at all times (can't free range even if you have a fenced yard), and only 7 families can have them in the entire city, and you have to allow them onto your property whenever they want for surprise inspections, and it's a $50 yearly fee to just APPLY, not necessarily get into the pilot program. The doozy for me would be that all people within 200 feet of the property have to sign a paper saying they are fine with the chickens.

I live across the street from one of the major opponents to our chicken-keeping movement (he's a real buttinski) and there is no way he'd sign. All of my other neighbors would happily sign it. These limitations are not fair to taxpaying residents, ESPECIALLY considering there was nothing in the code about chickens when I moved to Debary.
