Rooster's nose is bad, real bad. What to do?

I have been out of town for a week. I come back and find my favorite rooster's nose is a huge mess. His nose is swollen and impacted on both sides. Whatever is in there is hard as a rock. I tried picking at it but I could tell it bothered him a lot as if it was sore. The size of those hard things is disturbing too. They are bigger than his eyes. They look like peas. What on earth could it be? He doesn't appear to be sick. He was running around, eating, etc like normal but that nose is hideous. Please help.

I'll probably take him to a vet tomorrow but I'm hoping someone here might help. Google turned up almost nothing.

Is it possible he got rocks in there some how? Do you have any pictures to show us? Is it in his nostrils?

Could he have gotten bitten or stung??

This was him about 1 month ago. I zoomed in and can see his nose was clogged up back then, it just wasn't enough for me to notice and he showed no signs of having a cold or whatever. He's so beautiful. When I got him I was told he was a pullet and he was very drab. Then out of nowhere about 2 months ago he started added all these new feathers and bright orange plummage. I just couldn't believe how handsome he was becoming. I would hate for anything bad to happen to my special guy.

I am a duck person, but here is a guess.

It could be a fungal infection. There are always mold and fungus spores around, and sometimes they get ahead of the immune system,

Ducks play in water and keep their nares clean, if there is water available.

So please forgive my ignorance, but I hope some ideas can help you figure out how to help this guy.

If it is fungal, antibiotics won't work, you will need something antifungal. Some people like herbal remedies, some like over the counter.

But there are over the counter antifungals. I just don't know what things you should avoid for chickens.

A warm compress (I know, very difficult, but worth a try) might soften it some. And then you could apply something that affects fungus.

Warm salt water might be safe to try. Salt kills numerous things. I have heard of yogurt being used to treat yeast infections. So that might be something to consider, also. Dilute cooled chamomile tea, or oregano tea might be worth a try for a compress, too.

By the way, salt, oregano, chamomile, all work against bacteria also. Some use honey as a topical antibiotic, as well. Just more ideas for you.

Go with your gut, and watch him closely.

I would give him extra poultry vitamins if you are not already doing that.

I have some Lotrimin (coincidentally I had 3 fungal infections on my arm this summer) I was going to give him.
