This morning as usual I went out to let everyone out, my duck/chicken house has a door with hardware cloth that I open during the early morning to let the chickens come out at their leisure but the geese can't go in and harass them. I use a piece of heavy string type stuff to hold the door open, this morning Missy the Toulouse goose who must be cutting teeth chewed through this rope, she also chewed through the last one but must have eaten part of it because I never found it, this one she just chewed it into and left. She has plenty of toys out there and also feed and hay but she prefers to find other things to get into, she makes me laugh at how inquisitive she is. She also likes to chew on wood and the board that goes into their goose house some of the wood is rotten[needs to be replaced] and she has been working on it too. what are some of the things you have noticed your geese like to chew on?

Mine chewed the leads to the battery for the automatic door. They also like to pull the bird netting of the coop door (keeps the crows away from the babies)

Anything. Honestly. Mine also love to use things for toys, which they will carry to their stock tank for water play. They pull on any cords or strings, so I put some old rope macrame hangers out in the yard for the. They've managed to separate the wooden and metal rings from the rope...

Lately, they've found an old plastic whistle on a cord and have been carrying that around for a while. Silly geese!

dog kong toys, old pieces of hose, parrot toys (in the brooders for the babies) large hemp rope, bungee cords, rocks, shells they dig up in the ground, rubber duckie bath tub toys, wood, netting, shade cloth, each other, branches on the citrus trees, gate latches ( I think they are trying to figure out how to open their stalls) edges of pools feed pans, buckets

I swear, my two geese lead the nightly duck-joke fests and kiddie pool drumming circles!

This doesn't have to do with chewing, but have you noticed if you sneeze of cough they have to have a comment? It can be dead of winter with the windows in the house closed tight and i am in the upstairs bedroom farther est away from their house and I sneeze and my gander hollers.

He can also hear us talking inside before it gets daylight and starts hollering.

We have noticed that sneezing evokes quite an interesting response. They can hear anyone sneeze from a mile away. They all stop what they are doing and stand to attention, until all goes quite again and they can continue with their business.
