Hi, I am new to incubating and to posting in forums. This is actually my first post!

Okay, so I have eggs in the Brinsea Mini Advance and this is day 19. I did like instructions said on day 18 I candled, had 4 moving chicks inside. I added water to the other side to increase humidity. My humidity is at 74% and from what I have read this is too high and will drown my chicks when they pip. Help!

people will tell you not to mess with it but if it were me I'd open it slightly for 2-4 seconds at intervals until it gets where you want it.
A lot depends on your ambient humidity in the room you're in. I incubate in the basement and it stays humid there.

can you lift the lid for a second to relieve some humidity? I dont think that is too high but for a few days I would try to get it a tad lower.

I tried cracing the lid several times but the humidiy kept spiking, it even got to 76% at one point. This morning it is down to 70% and tomorrow is hatch day. I hope this doesn't drown my chicks.

OOOOOH BOY, probably going to get nailed for this, but IMHO 70% is EXACTLY what you want, it could even be higher. It all depends on the humidity during incubation. If it was HIGH during incubation, you'd want it a bit lower during the last 3 days. If it was LOWER during incubation, it could be higher than it is now & still not hurt the chicks

why would you get nailed? LOL
this is what I would have said as well!! Plus what the air cells look like!

Duh !!!! There seem to be as many opinions as there are people. So you think I'm right. Funny thing is I know I'm right. Ya don't hatch for 30+ years, having very high hatch rates, on luck alone

and everyones bator is different, well at least some of ours are!! LOL

Checked my humidity this morning and it was at 66%. After lunch I went in to check it and as I was checking a chick pipped. Yay, the little guy went to work and was out in about 30 minutes. He is dry and doing good but a day early. He is still in the Mini Advance with his unhatched siblings. I'm afraid to open and take him out so hopefully he will be fine and hopefully more will follow tomorrow. This was my first hatch and these are shipped eggs with mostly large saddle shaped cells.

I hope you get some more hatching out there! this might be your first, but before long you will be needing incubators anonymous!
