All help is greatly appreciated as I have an opportunity to rehome my boys today, but have a few that I can't quite determine yet. They are both approx. 5/6 wks old.

Two chickens in question:

1) "Millie" or "Mickey"? Ameraucana or EE? (The "fluffy tail" is the 2nd photo isn't him/her. It's a white frizzle bantam cochin standing behind her/him.)

2) "Dottie" or "Donny"? Ameraucana or EE?

Thank you!!!

Any gender guesses? They were supposed to be pullets, but I have my doubts. The white one constantly runs between me and the other chickens, has tried to bite me, and seems to have a pink comb. The other stands like a rooster sometimes, very upright with a more upright tail.

Thanks @ramirezframing for the confirmation of EE.

I agree, both EE (the green legs are a giveaway :) ).

Re: sex - to early to tell for sure. They have a huge variance in personality & genetics- and with EE's the combs are SO variable... the one with the pinkish comb could just have a hybrid comb. I have hens with both small and large pea combs that developed at different rates. Do you have EE pullets to compare feet/shank size to? An obvious difference *might* be a clue. They look fairly dainty/girly at first glance though.

I am not sure about this, but I have heard people say that the color type on your second chick (the brown one) is a typical pullet coloration. I don't know about the white.

They both look pretty dainty and girly to me, despite the bigger/pinker comb on the first chick.

Have you checked to see if there are any bald spots where saddle feathers would grow in?

Thanks! They're supposed to be pullets, and my 3 year old has grown quite attached to these two chickens in particular. Will wait a while longer and see what happens :) Glad to know the pink comb isn't a done deal.

With most breeds the comb is a great clue, but with EE's it's just so variable... if I had trusted that as an indicator I would have given away half my hens at 8 weeks by accident. haha

Bald patches for saddle feathers? Oh dear, I had noticed some little featherless spots on one of my girls that I have worried was a roo, I will have to check again today!

Thanks for the feedback everyone :)

Update: White EE's comb keeps getting redder and he/she is getting some peachy feather coloration as well. Other EE's comb is still yellow, but he/she's comb is getting much more prominent. Time will tell!
