we have 3 2 week old ducklings. Free range. I just found one inthe middle of the lawn. It seems to be straining to breathe, or at the very least it is freaked out and can't peep. We can not see anything lodged in it. We don't see anything blocking it's throat or it's nasal passages. Doing our best to keep it warm but are very concerned with it's struggling to breath

we have given it warm water, a few drops of vege oil, I tried massaging it's throat. Nothing. It is trying so hard to peep. It was perfectly healthy a few hours ago. Don't know what else to do.

thanks Justine, slight improvement. Just warming up. Sorta peeps , srta. It can now waddle a little. It is now hiding under my wifes hair.

They do very weird things when chilled. I thought I was going to lose a chick today who got stuck behind a feeder, but after warming up I can't figure out which one it was in the first place.

Hoping that's all it is. Where was their mother?

while I was locking up the birds my wife got him or her to drink a little. I came in the house to a peeping duckling. Whatever was lodged in it's throat seems to have passed. Thakfully. No more labored breathing. I don't know which combination did it, or all of it, but it is quite a bit better. I just put some warm water in the bath tub. I'll see if it wants a swim and some scrambled eggs before I bring it back to mama chicken. To answer your question Justine, mama is in thecoop with the other 2 babies.

something was stuck and it was cold and scared and looking for mama. It just took a swim. It still is not 100% but much better. My wife is insisting it stays in the house tonight.
