I have four 14 week old birds like the dark one on the front, and a single 14 week old that is in the middle (and several guinea fowl, seen in the back, no help required there!) I THOUGHT that I had 5 Plymouth Rock Barred pullets, but then the one feathered out a lot lighter than the rest, and has more prominent/developed/mature comb and wattle. The chickens are all supposed to be pullets, so I am hoping that instead of ending up with a roo, that maybe I have Cuckoo Marans or Dominiques, or possibly even barred American Holland? The darker ones have the grey shading on their feet, which I am told is a RB trait. I honestly can't remember what color feet/legs the lighter one has. I will double check when I get home. But if someone can help me out in identifying their breed/gender, by just looking at the pictures, I would greatly appreciate it! I have driving myself batty searching online and would gladly defer to expert opinion! Thanks!!

I have. But I have NO clue what I am looking for to distinguish breed, or possibly gender. I grew up in Southern California and just got my first chickens this April. If its alive, I am lost, if it comes in a nifty little shrink wrapped refrigerated package, I can identify body parts, but thats it as far as any chicken identification goes, lol.

I surely hope it isn't a roo. My guineas are loud enough, I don't need more noise! Until there are eggs being laid, I can only hope! What about a California Grey?
