updated pics of my flock of misfits!

I had posted a couple weeks ago and was given the news that I didn't get what I was told I was getting with these guys so now it's the guessing who is who. They are about 9 weeks old now.

I have established that I have a rooster with this guy but I don't know what breed he is, he has his own special thread too




His "sister" is a very strange bird, she's much much smaller, and I got some advice and suggestions on here about a month ago with her that she may be a hatchery dud that would never mature, or have an endocrine insufficiency of some sort. She is finally getting her feathers and that includes her feet, so I am thinking she's some kind of cochin/cochin mix...any ideas on her?




Then I have this pair...some people thought RIR's, or RSL perhaps? A few weeks ago people thought maybe both roos or one of each, but I have my doubts. I know the comb on the first one is on the redder side but it hasn't grown much in the last couple weeks or darkened...Not much difference between them. They are the largest and also my most social and friendly birds. Pictured behind in the second is my SLW girl.




Lastly I have the second of the SLW's (which I was told were BR's!). Again, people suspected she is a he, and it definitely has a redder and bigger comb than the pullet, but he is definitely a lost cause?? Again his comb has changed very little the past two weeks. (he is pictured twice)






Anyway, let me know what you all think of this motley crew! So far they all get along great, and we will try to keep everyone even if it's going to be a boy band!!

Your feather legged one looks like a (bantam?) Dark Brahma cockerel--that may also explain the slower feathering.

The white patch on the wings of the Wyandotte worry me more than the comb. As always, I'd hold off until you are certain.

First bird is a wyandotte- rose comb and yellow legs. Color doesn't match any standard right now though but then hatcheries are not known to really breed to the standard..... It may either be a silver lace except way dark or a color cross. There's a chance he may lose the white on wings when he fully matures or shows some kind of pattern making a guess easier. However, he;s an wyandotte.

Second bird is a dark brahma cockerel. He has a pea comb which is brahma trait, also. As mentioned- that is why he is feathering so slowly. There is a gene for extreme slow feathering, chicks with it are much slower to feather out as chicks. As adults they should have normal feathering all over though. In some colors, slow feathering is added for improvement on the pattern like show stock barred rock- slow feathering is thought to help out with producing crisper barring, for example.

Those two have the color of RSL. However that one has very very unusual curve to beak.. is it a cross beak or is the beak really curved like that? If they are RSL they should be pullets.

What do you make of the SLW?

Most interesting beak! It looks like a step towards the Scandaroon pigeon beak.

SLW does look like a possible pair.. darker one male, lighter one female.

here's an updated pic of our flock. sadly minus the only confirmed pullet who wandered off never to return A little worried we are left with a boy band, though I am still hopeful that the two light birds are RSL pullets.




Is this SLW definitely a cockerel? still not much change to the comb. he/she is about 12-13 weeks now. You can see his/her body above and face better here.
