We are new to BYC and had a lovely warm welcome in the newbie area of the site. The guys over there suggested I post my sex and breed questions here, so here we are:

These are our chickens. I am almost certain of the breed and sex of the white one. 50/50 of the sex and breed of the brown one. And 80% there with breed and 99% on sex of the Sandy coloured one. I want to see what you all think before I post my thoughts on them.

To help you out, the sandy one has yellow legs and 5 toes with a nice 'slickback' hair-do! We are in the UK if that helps. The red/brown one has a single row comb and doesn't usually stand this tall!

Thank you :)

I was 50/50 about that one. The Sandy one keeps starting fights with it but is so much smaller, would it still try to establish itself above the big red one if they were both cockerels?

They were all hatched from the same batch. It was a school project a teacher friend of mine was doing. Hope its not a boy but s/he shows characteristics from both sexes!

The red one looks like a boy, the other two look like girls at the moment.

It seems that most people on here are saying white and sandy are female and the red is male. I thought white was female, sandy male and red I was unsure. The Sandy one's comb went red much earlier than the others. Problem with them being different breeds is that they mature differently and at different rates. The sandy one also starts fights with the red which makes me wonder if we have 2 boys.

While we are on the subject of breeds, anyone any ideas yet? I think there is a White Rock, Houdan X, and RIR? I say Houdan X because I cant find any Houdans online of the same colour? 5 toes and an awesome hairdo should give it away??
