10 Cornish X eggs in the incubator!

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well... I'm sorry that it's been a few days but I've been crazy busy and it was my Birthday...so I apologize.

First off I have to say that I lost 3 babies Saturday. 1 Cornish X, 1 RIR, 1RIR/Buff orpington. I think a coon must have stuck his paws through the chicken wire because I had one missing, one's head off and one kind of skinned. I quickly switched coops with my older girls and the three remaining babies are thriving.

One Cornish X had a boo boo on it's tail but it's healing....So I have 2 Cornish X whom are twice the size of my RIR baby. I don't care what they say about breeding BUT they are matching the growth rate of their parents.

Another sad thing, the 11 Cornish X eggs I put in the incubator only 1 was fertile. Yep, I have only 1 baby growing. So my advice is quickly get those eggs from those girls...

UPDATE...before I posted this my daughter came inside to tell me I have only one chick left... 1 Cornish x, 1 dead RIR 1 missing Cornishx........

****!! I'm going to go investigate........I don't get it...first time I've EVER had a predator.......

Typing and holding my last baby. I NEVER had a chick or chicken that wants to just cuddle. Ever since I brought her inside she's been cuddling and refuses to let me put her down, I just feel terrible for her.

she's actually sleeping on my arm...3.5 weeks old

pictures on the next post...stupid computer!!

Aoxa I am kind of surprised with her rate of growth too. If I didn't know she was a baby from my ccx, I would swear I bought a ccx from somewhere, she is identical to her parents. Crazytalk, here's your proof..debunk that.

Yes, predators suck! Never thought of a skunk. I'm sorry for your losses too. We work so hard and these things just makes me mad!

Take care!

The only two birds I ever lost was inside the coop with their necks shredded. I'm assuming a mink or weasel, but they only bothered one each time in different coops. Getting hardware cloth this next week and installing. It's so frustrating isn't it?
