I think it was Yashar that wrote that about them being a little wild, and he wrote that a looooooong time ago. I'm not even sure he would say that anymore! (Hopefully he'll chime in!) Now, the Huastecs are a tad wild - they stick around but only will sleep in trees and highly resent being told to do otherwise! I've never had any South American go feral. I think when people say "wild" they mean behavior - like spazzy. BQO are very calm and not the slightest bit spazzy. Huastec hens are nippy and tough. My one Huastec roo was so terribly aggressive I had to rehome him. BQO roos are lapdogs, sweet and trustworthy. I can't really speak to foxes. I have tons of coyotes here and I have never lost a South American to a coyote. We may have foxes at night when I don't see them, but my coop is seriously Fort Knox at night, and everyone is locked in, so nothing has a chance anyway. My birds free range during the day and hawks are a HUGE HUGE HUGE issue. I've never lost a BQO ADULT to a hawk - young juveniles, but no adults. BQO are really easy to keep.
