Aloha from the Big Island of Hawai’i !
I started 34 eggs yesterday between my Nurture Right 360 and my Kebonnixs .
My Kebonnixs is all gorgeous BCM eggs and my 360 is a mix of BCM, Prairie Bluebell eggers and a barnyard mix (shown in pic of nine eggs in box) so those will be my surprise babies...
Hello!
This is "Sunspot", she was rescued on June 12th and looked maybe 2 weeks old at that point. She's a barnyard mix, Silkie, Ancona, Polish, and about a hundred other breeds. She was sexed by the one & only, "Fran the Chicken Lady" as a female, about a week after being rescued.I
At that...
Darcy and Wanda: Starlight green eggers, around 7-8 weeks. Darcy might be questionable?
Phoebe: Unsure on breed, around 4-5 weeks - possibly Easter egger? The lady said she had ameraucanas and Wyandottes and some mixes, so I’m guessing Phoebe is a mix… I’ve read about the triple comb meaning...
I’m curious on what you all think the breed and sex of these chicks may be. They are barnyard mixes that my broody hen hatched from a local farmer. They are currently 8.5 weeks old. I think at least two are cockerels. One is for sure a cockerel. He just started trying to crow. Strangest sound...
What do you think? Some pics of the chicken alone and with the others from eggs hatched at the same time.
I think it’s possibly a cream legbar crossed with an Easter egger.
I recently hatched two chicks, and so far they are doing really well! I am quite new to chickens, so I’m not very experienced with breeds and all. I was wondering if any of you chicken experts out there knows what breeds my chicks are? I posted about them a little while back but everyone said...
Silkie? Polish? Serama? Sebright? Pekin? A bit of everything blended into one adorable tiny hen?
Tinny was sold to her previous owner as a generic bantam, and am trying to figure out what this strange little poofy bird is. Tinny is a year old.
Tinny is definitely part silkie, but...
Bootsie, my sweet, but lady-killer of a cockerel.
His mother is my Red bantam Cochin hen Holly, and his father is our LF Buff Brahma.
He is slightly taller than my Bantam Cochin Rooster, Red.
But he is nowhere near the size of a standard Buff Brahma rooster.
I was reading that hybrids and crosses will most likely be sterile!? WHAT... NOOOO! My Welsh Harlequin female is either 100% of 50% Rouen 50% Welsh. She’ll be able to produce fertilized eggs won’t she? My Khaki Campbells are mixed with Indian Runner. Will they be sterile? What about my rouen...
I have five ducklings for sale that are 5 days old as of this post. They are $7 each. They are extremely energetic and are a variety of breed mixes, see photos for markings (silver appleyard, Pekin, golden welsh harlequin, Silver Swedish, Blue Swedish, Silver welsh harlequin, Aylesbury...
I was missing the "high" of chicken tending now that I'm back at work and decided to set 18 eggs at the beginning of Feb. Hatch day was yesterday, and of course I got called in to work, so I have no idea who came out of what egg, but so far there are 12 puffballs running around the brooder. I'm...
This is an appreciation thread for the mutts of the chicken world, including birds who were already there when you bought the place, 'free to a good home' off a CL ad, general mixed flocks, and fancy or experimental crosses, but ALL chickens are welcome, even your most fancy-top-of-the-line...
Hello everyone! I live in Northern Maine (I see New Brunswick Canada on my way to work in the morning), and last fall I started raising chickens strictly for eggs. I bought 3 barred rocks and 3 silver lace chicks and they spent their winter in my enclosed coop using the deep litter method...
Anybody know why I would get BLACK chicks from an Easter Egger/Lavender Orpington cross!?
I know Easter Eggers, especially hatchery EEs, are not exactly reliable or predictable when it comes to genetics, but I was expecting red or at least blue or laced or something because of the parent’s...
