Hello!
I have a buff orphington that over the last few weeks has lost feathers on her wings and her back. She is almost a year old. I originally saw our Rhode Island reds plucking a few feathers but now it seems she’s plucking her own. She now has a bald spot on her back. I’ve checked her...
We believe they are around 6 weeks old. Purchased from a farm store the first week of March, 2021. SLW combs are starting to turn a peach color, while buffs are staying mostly yellowish. Any help is much appreciated!
My buff Orpington is 7 months old, she became sick a few days ago. One of her eyes was swollen and had bubbles in it. But we have started treating her with Neosporin and saline twice a day. But now it seems like she is unable to breathe very well. She raises her head and takes a long breathe...
After 3 years of no issues, we were hit with a predator recently (probably a raccoon) and have been left with a sole hen after having 5. It's been a hard week.
She's about 8 months old, has been a great layer so far, and is incredibly sweet with humans, other chickens, and dogs.
We're not...
Hi All,
I have looked at past posts to try and figure out what to do...I'm a newbie in my first year of raising girls...
Anyway, I am having a problem with one of my Buffs...she doesn't get out of the box at all! Not to eat, not to drink, not to dustbathe! She's been this way since last week...
My dad told me this morning that the dogs had gotten one of Cin's chickens, but he managed to save it just in time. I went looking for it to make sure it was okay (and it seems fine, just smells like dog). But then I happened upon my friend here who has a swollen closed eye and some crusty...
I Do Not Want To Do This...
but it cannot be helped. I need to give away my four 8-month old Buff Orpingtons. They are VERY friendly, will sit in your lap for as long as you want to pet them, come running when they see you, lay one egg every day, PERFECT pets for children to learn about...
A few weeks ago, one of my two Buff Orpingtons was taken by a hawk. Immediately thereafter, my Ancona rooster began bullying the remaining BO, with other hens often joining in. Here is a video from a camera in my coop:
Any ideas about what to do?
(I'm new so sorry if this is in the wrong place)
I realized my Silkie is actually very small compared to my other Silkies. I also realized today that she's actually scared of my Buff Orphington Bantam so that's why she hides in a corner/behind the dog house all day. I'm scared she doesn't eat...
So I have this hen, shes a 4 year old buff orpington, that has been almost bald of feathers for more than a year. Two years ago I had a couple of aggressive roosters, and only 7 hens, which is when the feather loss started. I bought the girls "jackets", to protect from the roosters, but most of...
Today I was out with my hens and noticed our 3 year old buff Orpington hens legs and feet were very red. It’s only snowed once here so far this winter and melted mostly later that day. There’s no snow currently. Oh and there’s bubbly scale on the back of her leg if you look at the last photo I...
Hi there. I really hope someone can help me. My chicken has these black dots around her eyes and some blood around her neck also (I’ll insert a picture). She is the head of the pecking order so it would be weird, but I guess possible for her to be attacked. She is acting normal and eating and...
Hello I am moving in about a month or two to a new town (Iroquois Falls, Ontario) where I'm finally able to own chickens. I'm hoping to find someone for this coming spring to be able to sell and ship me 3 - 4 buff Orpington hens. I cannot legally own roosters here, only hens. I have never owned...
**Edited the chaos of the repeating post**
So I got a 12 week old Buff Orphington pullet back in April. It only took her a couple weeks to start laying and quickly became the head hen of the flock. About a month ago, we went broody. But it started while my husband a I were away on vacation for...
I have a 15 month old buff Orphington hen. I noticed her limping 4 days ago and has bumble foot. I'm cleaning, soaking in Epsom salt, and wrapping it after applying blu kote and drawing salve. a layer of black scab was already half hanging off and came off on its own or with her help.
I need...
Our family lives in North Florida and is new to chicken raising. We have three chickens that are 38 1/2 weeks old. They are in a very nice pen with all the amenities a chicken would want. Two of the chickens, one Wyandotte and one Rhode Island Red, have been laying for some time now. The Buff...
On Saturday my husband and myself, with the kids in tow started an adventure for us with our new foray into homesteading. We currently have a Belgian Mille Fleur d'uccle Rooster, that literally walked into our lives! Hes so sweet and docile. He seems to have taken a liking to me. He comes only...
