    Feed and Water in coop?

I have 8 chicks that will be moving out to the coop/run soon and I was wondering if I should put food and water in the coop for them at night or if the feeder and waterer in the run are enough. Just wanted to see what I should do before I put them out.

Question on Integrating Chicks with Hen

Hi all, I'm looking for some feedback. I have one rescue hen, Lacey, that I found and nursed back to health a few months back. She is now doing well in her coop, laying almost daily, though she is lonely as she is the only one. A month ago I purchased 4 little easter-egger chicks that were just...

    Pecking and Cannibalism???!!!

Hi this is my first time raising chicks and everything has been going okay for the most part but I'm starting to experience issues with pecking since the chicks have begun feathering out. I work at a farm so we're raising around 300 chicks in a big brooder in our greenhouse. Around 70 of them...

    What breed is my chick?

She was the only one that looked like this in the bin. I thought she was a leftover barred rock, but she has a mohawk and her barred coloring is starting to fade out a little bit. Ideas?

Cleaning the coop.... My chicks are 5 weeks new. I moved them from the garage tote to the outdoor coop as they needed more space. Chickens in the Coop?

First-time chicken owner - 6 standards, 4 bantams. Most of my chicks were shipped March 25, so about 5 1/2 weeks old. Two are a week older (2 of the standards) so are 6 1/2 weeks old. I live in Northern CA, and temps during the day are the 60s-70s, and the lows at night are 49 - 51. They are...

    'Free Ranging' With The Flock?

First of all, I'll get a picture of the chicks later! Our 3 five/almost six week old chicks have begun to get really anxious about being let out of their coop & run to 'free range' with the others. Both chick coop and flock coop are within a secure 'free ranging' yard. As long as I watch them...

Ran out of Chick Feed help!

I ran out of chick feed today and due to the holidays everyone here is closed. Can I mash up some plain Cheerios to get through the night or will this cause them to get sick? They are about 5 weeks old right now.

I'm afraid my 6-week-old chicks are eating too much dirt and grass!

I have 3 six-week-old silkie chicks who have lived indoors all their lives, with the exception of spending a few minutes some days roaming around on the grass. A few days ago, I introduced them to their coop in the backyard. I'm afraid that with them spending all their time on the ground...

    Sexing 5 week old chicks

Hello all! I am aware Silkie chicks are very difficult to sex up until they are mature. However, I am very eager to know the sex of my two silkies. They're both about 5 weeks old and I was told they were both hens but am skeptical about the accuracy of their sexing. Does anyone have any other...

Is 98 degrees outside too hot for baby chicks?

i have a variety of chicks in a brooder under a heat lamp in my house right now. In an attempt to avoid a divorce I got another smaller chicken coop with an attached run and put it in my large chicken run with the rest of my adult birds and two ducks. I have a Brahma, Americauna, and a bantam...
