We Live in Las Vegas. Our predator threats are cats, rats and coyotes. The most important aspect of coop construction is to protect the hens from the heat(commonly over 110 in the summer).

Hi everyone,
My sweet hen Penny has an ongoing sour crop but recently started having unusual poops. I was very worried about her because she wasn’t preening, eating or drinking water and her crop was really bloated. She ended up having a very unusual poop (see pictures). I have never seen...
Hey there, my 6-7 month old hen is exhibiting some unusual-for-her symptoms. She has not left the coop all day and has just been sitting on the roosting bar in and out of sleep. She will eat oatmeal from my hand and is still her fussy self but it’s very strange for her not to come outside and...
Hello, I have one or more chickens (I’m not sure which one or ones are doing it) that are pooping bright yellow poop. I keep a pretty close eye on my flock and haven’t noticed any of them acting listless or otherwise unhealthy, but it seemed strange to me, because they didn’t have poop like that...
13 weeks old I pretty sure was my Roo, found this in coop this morning should I go ahead and treat for coccidiosis or intestinal shedding or is it possibly tomato ??
We recently got three new chicks, a Rhode Island Red, Golden Comet, and a Light Brahama. Our light brahma has had poop stuck on his down feathers below his vent which I can see opening and closing when I touch it, should I try and clean that poop off or can I just leave him. I assume they get...
I have a female Golden Manchurian Coturnix Quail who is not walking and laying on her back. First then she got stuck in the cloth wire on my cage a few hours ago. She had a big poop/dirt clump on her right foot and after I freed her she seemed to be walking around fine. But now when I went out...
I've just got a new hen for my flock(lavender araucana), the previous owner said she's just started to moult...
I've got home and upon further inspection ( hope this makes sense) the strands coming out of the feather root/ centre thing are very short ( on her back) also she has quite watery...
I recently noticed droppings with shed intestinal lining in them (pinkish strands that look like raw meat). My 7 hens are about 15 months old and have never been wormed. They are eating and drinking normally, and otherwise their droppings look good. I haven't found the culprit of the couple...
I have a 4 fully grown quail, 3 hens, and a rooster. Their droppings usually never smelled that bad however recently it's been unbearable to the point I have no choice but to fully clean and disinfect their cage every day. I have been feeding them manna pro gamebird feed all their life, water...
One of my coturnix quail dropped dead out of nowhere- perfect health, she was old, except I noticed green poop around the pen. The urate is green, I think, not the poop itself. Should I be worried about my other quail? What could cause this?
My chick is only a day old and she has curly toes. we put a boot on her but she walks on her legs and not her feet. She's not eating and cant really stand up properly. She is pooping but hasn't ate. PLEASE HELP me I've already lost a couple chicks and can't loose another. She had trouble...
We have a six week old wood duckling who never seemed to have a problem eating food dry. Suddenly we’ve noticed that starting this afternoon he’s not eating from his dish at all like he normally does and will only eat feed from in his water dish so it’s fully soft to the point of falling apart...
Hi all,
I have a 2-year-old Partridge Olive Egger named Jennie who has recently been re-introduced to our other two hens following an injury from our rooster that she had to recover from. Today when I was holding her I realized that she was leaking a clear, odorless fluid from her vent. It...
My 19 weeks old hybrid hen poop watery! Is it normal? Beside pooping and puking, she seem fine and healthy. She eat, drink, lay an egg and walk around just like every normal hen does. Also, she use to puke water too.
Ps. I live in the hot climate and the other hen that live with her seem fine...
Hey everyone,
My chicks were doing great for 2-3 days after they hatched until one started sleeping too much all of a sudden. With closer inspection, I saw the Yellow Draining Poop that Reeked of Puss. I assumed it was Vent Gleet after researching chicken poop but it died only 1 hour after it...
I have been seeing some red in my chicken's poop for a few days now, and have thought nothing of it because they have been enjoying a summer treat of watermelon. This time it had been a few days and I was still seeing small bubbles of red in my chicken's poop. Not often, but not too...
My partner wanted me to create a new thread so that it could reach a larger amount of people, so here it is. Our previous thread is under the same name and can be reached from my page.
We have been raising a previously abandoned duckling together for 7 weeks now. In the beginning, we struggled...
If you use poop boards, do you care if your girls walk on them? Do they track poo elsewhere? Have any good tricks for keeping them from doing that?
I'm exploring options for a challenging and confining location. Flock of 12 (half ISA brown, half Plymouth Rock). Current idea is 6x8...
Hello
One of my hens has regular poop sometimes but other times has runny poop. The poop was a small amount today and was almost clear with a little cloudiness to it. Sometimes there is a big splat, with a little regular poo and a lot of liquid. Should I be concerned? How should I help her?
