Hey Everyone, I know Polish are notoriously difficulty to sex, but I'm hoping some experts here might have a clue for my 9 week old Polish. I've had the worst of luck with roo's this year so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe this little one is a hen.
What do you guys think?
Sorry for not...
Hello! Please offer your insight on the sex of these birds.
They are 7 weeks old and were hatched out from “barnyard mix” hatching eggs from a farm. We do not know the breed or which breeds they have at the farm. I have numbered them 1,2 and 3 in the photos.
If you have guesses on breed...
I am a first time chicken owner. I recently got x7 day-ish old chicks sexed as hens from Orchard Ridge Farm in Gorham, Maine. I am not positive where they source them from, but it is a local hatchery in the north east. My order *should* have included the following, but I am not so certain that I...
I have a light Brahma about 5/6 weeks old who came from a female bin at Runnings. I'm becoming suspicious she is actually a he though because she's got bright red wattles coming in already, and she's turning into a bit of a jerk. She's also surpassed my oldest chick(at least a week older) in...
I hatched these sometime in May, I wanted some other opinions on their genders. The one has a darker comb as I think I accidentally kept a Silkie in the mix with my Cochins. Either way, both are cute.
I have just purchased four Tolbunt Polish, I'm unsure of how to sex them as none seem to have any comb or wattles. They seem to have feathers in their crests as well as around the backs of their necks growing in which in my mind means roosters. Needing another opinion. (Pictures are all of the...
Got my birds from a somewhat local breeder,1.5 hrs away, who delivers through our area to surrounding counties. When I ordered our chicks I stated all hens except for 1 gold laced Wyandotte to be a rooster. He replied through messenger ok and we met up. One blue laced wyandotte had a curled foot...
Hi! We have four alleged pullets which were all allegedly hatched on April 1 and 3 (so about 9 weeks ago). The Jubilee Orpington (JO), Barred Rock (BR), and Salmon Faverolle (SF) all were picked up when they were allegedly 10-12 days old, but I really have some doubts that the SF was as old as...
This Orpington chick is about 5-6 weeks old.
The parent options are:
white or buff roo
lavender or chocolate hen
They were all together and we don’t know who hatched what. Any ideas what color(s) this chick could be?
And while we’re here - do we think it’s a pullet or cockerel? Thanks for...
The only rooster we have is polish so all chicks will be at least part polish. we also have some easter egger hens so some will be EE/polish mixes. are the chicks with crests on their heads straight polish or could those be EE/polish mixes??
So, about 6 weeks ago we got 12 straight run chicks from Tractor Supply Co.
We got 6 RIR and 6 Orpington.
Now, I get the feeling I may only have about two hens of each kind 😅
I’ll share some pictures, and you guys can let me know what you think!
Hi, would any of you muscovites like to take a stab at sexing my almost-five-week-old muscovies? There are eight, numbered in this video here. #2 and #4 (Mohawk and Tiny, lol) are smaller, while the rest are about the same size.
Interestingly, the very biggest one (#5) is farthest along in...
Hey there,
We just picked up a 7 week old silkie. I am aware of the breeds propensity for hiding their gender until the last possible moment. However, I am worried our little one is showing roo tendencies (loud, standing tall, seems to have streaking top feathers) and we cannot have Roos here...
I know some breeds of ducks can be sexed for a short period after birth because males and females get different beak colors. I have some rouens hatching in some time and I was wondering if rouens have that quirk too? It would make my life a lot easier lol
