Two of my geese (one female and I'm not sure of the other, possible gander) have developed a squeak, almost like a hiccup when he honks and my female has had nearly constant wet feather.
She'll bathe in the pool but won't preen well and her chest stays wet for hours, I checked a moment ago and...
All of my Muscovies have some degree of wet feather. They bathe and preen multiple times a day, but it hasn't resolved. It started this spring; they had no issues in the winter. I've read it's not uncommon in Muscovies, but should I be concerned and is there anything I should do to help them?
I acquired 2x 4 year old runner ducks yesterday and now realise they don't appear to have any oil on their feathers. They don't dry out after bathing and re constantly damp and their feathers are generally in poor condition.
I've read a number of articles about blocked oil glands and Wet...
Not really sure what to do, one of our geese has developed horrible wet feather and no matter what we do it just gets worse 😢 I’ve attempted to clean her in the bath today and it looks like the oil gland might be swollen? I’m not really sure, it still feels a bit oily but the wet feather has...
I have been feeding the abandoned domestic ducks at a local public park lake for about 7 1/2 years. About ten days ago, a beautiful young Swedish Duck (probably mix) was abandoned and he has wet feather syndrome of which I am certain. I have tried without success to catch him (I even...
We have two ducks, Dewey and Stanley. Stanley is unable to walk. when we had just gotten her, we noticed she was stepping on her feet a lot and it looked like her hips were bulging out. As she got older and full grown, she is now unable to hold herself up anymore. we thought it was a niacin...
Hi everyone, new member here from Pennsylvania.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My girlfriend and I have two ducks. We got them in April 2023. Her family had chickens before, but we wanted to get ducks instead.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We...
Hello, my khaki Campbell hens feathers are not looking ok. Is this wet feather or just damage? There has been some Drake chasing happening on and off by other “groups”. Everyone is “twitterpated” right now 🤦🏻♀️ lol. If it is… I can’t figure out the cause as we have a natural pond and a small...
I picked up some mature ducks from a large established farm the other day and when I brought them home (they put them right into the carrier for me) found that they have some significant skin issues. I was pretty surprised by the state of them to be honest.
They were caked in mud and are missing...
TLDR: I went for six ducks, and came home with fourteen that are in not so great shape.
Hello everyone. I guess I'm posting to get some opinions and advice on some new ducks I just acquired today.
Background: A semi-local gentleman posted his entire flock as needing rehomed due to his own...
In one of my first posts, I posted about how my ducks have wet feather. I've tried doing everything people suggested, but they still have wet feather and I have no idea what to do!? They're currently only males but I'm getting females for them soon, and since they don't swim I'm worried that...
Hello,
My muscovy ducks have seen to develop wet feathers, and I really need help!
I've bathed them today in my bathtub and dried them fully before putting them back with their flock
Is there anything else I could do?
+ How do I wash them? They're really dirty and the dirt won't come off in...
Hello everyone. Over the past week or so, I’ve started to notice that my ducks (two 8 week old Pekin-Rouen mixes, and two 7 week old Pekins) appear to have developed wet feather. After swimming, their feathers become completely soaked, and it can take well over an hour for them to dry. They have...
Hey! I’m not sure how to help my duck Holly. She’s been having a lot of leg issues for a while that aren’t resolving with my treatment. First it was bumble foot and a small limp. I took her to the vet and she removed the scab and infection on the bumble, took X-rays of the limpy leg. The x ray...
I have noticed a change in my duck feathers and am wondering if it’s wet feather or a molt. My ducks are 7 1/2 months old and have never had an obvious health issues. Egg laying has stopped for the most part (I’m only getting one egg a day) so that makes me wanna think it’s a molt. I’ll attach...
Hello! One of my ducks ( unknown gender but think they’re a boy) has had a hard time keeping the underside of their belly dry after swims. They’re now 3 months old & molting into adult feathers but I’m worrying they are getting very cold after swims because those feathers arnt drying through...
I have yearling muscovies and all of their oil glands just seem to not be working properly, some are partially working while two girls just are dry and have no oil at all, they have access to a full yard of grass and have fresh water to bathe in everyday. I don't know what to do about it, all I...
This is our first spring with a drake and females. I noticed today that all four of our females have significant bald, irritated patches of skin on their backs, beneath their wings. My first thought is that they're a result of aggressive mating, especially because the Swedish Blue, who is the...
So I'm relatively new to ducks and still learning. I have 7 muscovies. Four since they were ducklings and 3 I got at 3 months old. They are all 7 months old now. My 3 girls from a separate flock are all doing great. My 4 originals are all developing wet feather. This is my drake Jack, he is by...
Hello everyone, while my husband was changing his oil on Thursday, my goose Abby was hanging out around us and just as fast as I ran to the house to answer the phone, and my husband was wiping his hands off because the phone call was for him, my Abby plopped herself right down in the oil pan...
