We got a batch of chicks from tractor supply on Sept 10th. We got 6 - 3 Easter Eggers, 2 Barred Rock, and 1 that was supposed to be an ISA Brown. The single chick was bigger than the others and had some feathers when we got them, so I think it was about a week older than the others. As it has...
I have a 11 week old chicken, who has shown no obvious cockerel behaviour or cockerel feathering. When compared to my other 11 week old cockerels, this chicken is slower in growth has thinner legs and its comb has not grown much. Please see below pictures.
Please let me know what you think...

hi y'all! I'm new to this site so im still learning. I currently have a 4 month old what I believe is a blue orpington but I could wrong? I was told she may be a sapphire gem or australop but she fits more of the blue orpington description. She looks like the sapphire gem but is alot fluffier ...
I recently bought some chicks (from an Orscheln's) and I got my first bantam chick from a bin of assorted sexed bantams. I've been trying to figure out what type of bantam she is, but there are so many options that I can't tell. At first I thought maybe a cochin bantam, but I'm not sure now...
I got 3 - 3 day old silkie chicks from the pet/poultry store. The girl assisting me was talking over the phone to figure out how to identify them out of the mix of 100 crazy chicks running around!
So between the two of us, we found 2 that are definitely silkies (black feet, 5 fluffy toes...
This little sweetie came to my family last April and after all this time of thinking she is a Cinnamon Queen, I just want some other opinions 🙂 Thanks in advance!
Hello! I am new to raising chickens. I got 10 pullet chicks on April 5th. I chose 10 different breeds to see if I formed a preference for any. I let my kids pick them and of course they went for the smallest ones. I believe we ended up with a bantam by mistake which quickly became one of our...
we had a broody who hatched this egg. It wasn’t hers, just a fertilized egg we got from the feed store. The egg was a greenish tealish blueish color, but this hopefully a girl looks just like a Barred Rock. Could she just be a mix?
I finally decided on names for my little babes. Winter and Whisky seems to suit them well. I’d love suggestions on what you think they will look like once they’re grown.
Dad was a white frizzle and mum was apparently silkie. Thoughts please?
Just picked up these four chicks from a larger local hatchery. They were marked as Ameraucana/EEs, so I just assumed they were all EEs when ordering. That being said, they're here now, and they look more like Ameraucanas to me! A little help here?? One looks like a bearded Australorp, something...
I can't remember if she's related to Slim (Swedish Flowerhen Rooster) or not, but I caught her in the run with my chick, Swirly (who I have to keep separated for several reasons). I was very surprised she wasn't trying to harm her in any way, as most of the others have.
I call her "Speedy"...
My little Darth Maul (yes, she came to live with me on 'Star Wars Day') was supposedly a gold laced Wyandotte. She did have some red coloring when I got her,but now....nada. And her markings are very different from her silver laced Wyandotte sibling.(Her sib was also supposed to be a RLW,but I...
We bought 5 batnum chicks from tractor supply.....we got 3 silkies, but the other 2 i am not certain what they are.....i am thinking a game bird of some sort.....i believe 1 is roo and other hen.....can some tell me their breed
I ordered a few extra chicks last week and received them in the mail, not that I needed any extra but you know how it goes. I ordered a Swedish Flower Hen that died, a Speckled Sussex and a White Cochin. This little one is supposed to be the Cochin but clearly isn't. She started out yellow last...
