I was so sure that this bird was a barred rock pullet until it grew some wing feathers. COMPLETELY BLACK! No stripes, nothing. I narrowed down all the possible breeds from what the breeder had to two. Barred Rock, and Black Australorp, but at a few days old it had the white bum, bib, wing tips...
Hi, I ordered ten pullets from Meyer hatchery and seem to have gotten some boys. I’m very disappointed as I’m sure that the first two are cockerel’s (tho please feel free to tell me I’m wrong) but am hoping that my Brahma doesn’t make three 😞. They are 5 1/2 weeks old
I have never had a chick...
I have posted about his chick before regarding what breed it may be. Based on the low quality lacing that is coming in I’ve decided on a SLW mixed with… something. I bought it as a pullet from the rare breed assortment from Meyer. It is only three weeks but it’s hard for me to call this chick a...
I ordered a dozen assortment of sexed chicks and they were all hatched on May 1 making them just shy of 12 weeks old.
I think signs are pointing in the direction that this one may be a rooster. It’s pretty significantly larger than the others and it’s comb has been pretty bright for the last...
This chick is 6 weeks old, a bantam and a sweetheart. What do you guys think: is she a pullet or roo?
she feathered quickly, doesn’t have any red on her comb, but may have three rows? In the pictures you can see that she sometimes extends her neck—I’ve seen roosters do this, but is it exclusive...
What breed do I have here? Supposed to be Japanese phoenix but trails in males and females all look the same roosters look like hens and they lay like crazy..
Aquired them at a very young age with a batch of quail
Hey guys! So I am needing a second opinion on what breed and gender is my duck. I know the white one is a crested Pekin but I am having a little trouble identifying what gender he/she may be. The crested Pekin is about 4-5 months old. I thought she was a girl. However when I was out taking care...
I have 4 unsexed chicks and was wondering whether you could help me solve, the case of boy or girl? As well as their breeds based on their feathering. Please see below images.
Chick 1
Chick 2
Chick 3
Chick 4
Please let me know what you think.
Hi BYC Community! Since I’m very very very new here I’ll introduce myself first before I get into this post: Aloha all! My name is Breanna and I live in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu! I’m a lover of all types of animals but chickens and birds have a very special place in my heart. I feed many...
Wondering what breed this may be and what sex? I purchased this little one at my local TSC and it was supposedly Ameracauna
I would like to get more information as I’ve heard that tsc dislabels most chick breeds. My husband said it looks like it will be a rooster?
I have been able to identify the breed of all but one of my chicks. They are 5&1/2 weeks old. I think. I can't identify the breed of my black one. Also thoughts on gender would be great. They are Al shaped similar to my hen, so I think they are all pullets. I had to throw in a pic of Roro(Rosé).
We bought 5 batnum chicks from tractor supply.....we got 3 silkies, but the other 2 i am not certain what they are.....i am thinking a game bird of some sort.....i believe 1 is roo and other hen.....can some tell me their breed
Oh the age old question, Cockerel or Pullet? This is my first batch of chickens ever(16 of em!) Two of them are these beautiful 6 week old Amer(I)canas. I know these guys are hard to sex so early but I'm hoping someone might help in deciding what these are, the lighter copper- headed one has a...
Hi! I already posted my polish in another thread but now I finally braved getting the others out (they don't like me as much and they're much harder to catch!) Could you all tell me what you think? They are all bantams. They are all 8 weeks old (maybe minus a couple days)
#1 is I think a light...
Alright guys it’s that time of year again! So I bought a bunch of chicks from Tractor Supply’s bantam assortment. I have been able to figure out what all the other breeds are except for these 2.
The grey, white, and yellow one is extremely tiny and has feathered feet.
The second one is...
