I ordered a dozen assortment of sexed chicks and they were all hatched on May 1 making them just shy of 12 weeks old.

I think signs are pointing in the direction that this one may be a rooster. It’s pretty significantly larger than the others and it’s comb has been pretty bright for the last two weeks while the others are still peachy/light pink in color. It sounded like it was trying to crow a couple weeks ago but I only heard it one time. Which is not to say that it hasn’t happened since I just haven’t heard it.

Lastly, I am having a really difficult time trying to figure out what breed it may be as it doesn’t match up with any of the descriptions/pictures of the ones that were ordered. After looking at other breeds it looks like to me that it may be a Blue Copper Maran even though I didn’t order one? Perhaps a mixup? Based on what I ordered the only one it could be is a Blue Andalusian because out of the mix I ordered, that’s the only one I can’t confidently identify.

any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It may very likely be a blue copper maran.

hatcheries are known for mix ups
I also should’ve mentioned too that it has feathers down its legs which I believe (?) is a Blue Copper Maran trait. Either way it’s a beautiful bird.

thank you for your help!

It's a cockerel. Does it have a pea comb or single comb. In that picture it looks like a pea comb which would possibly indicate that he is an olive egger.
