That's odd. Are you trying to upload an image or trying to enter an image url? Where is the image stored that you are trying to use?

I don't know where it comes from. I was attempting the URL I guess because that is what the demo demoed done. I am computer illiterate really so i don't have a clue as to where I shouls start.

Coming Soon: Personal / My Pages 2.0 (okay, more like version 0.00002)

The "Personal Pages" feature of the site / forum has been a great success. Members seem to like it and it works pretty well. There are a bunch of little additions you've requested and we've been thinking about an upgrade to this cool tool.

While this feature has been great I thought we could expand it to do even more. One big issue I've been thinking about / struggling with since first bringing the site back up is that I knew I wouldn't personally have the time / resources / knowledge about chickens to add everything that I wanted added as new content to the main BYC site.

I'd love to have the entire community pull together and build an even better, constantly updating BYC.com. There are a lot of challenges with this from a technical and administrative / moderation standpoint. I initially thought a WIKI would be great way to go (basically any logged in member could add / edit pages) but realized the biggest problem with WIKI's is they can be hard to manage when multiple people edit the same page and start deleting / changing each other's content and it causes contention.

I've been noodling over this for a few months and I think I've got an idea: Take the existing "BYC Personal Pages" but extend it out so members could create additional pages where they are the sole author. A few examples:

1) I get a quite a few emails from users who want their coop designs submitted to the site. I have a hard time keeping on top of it... very time consuming to create the pages, insert the pictures, etc. What if these members could create their own coop pages which would be linked to from the main coop section of BYC?
2) Members often suggest new breed pages. Another great example where members could create these pages themselves or work as teams with a "breed master" that could coordinate their efforts.

Overall, the goal is to empower our excellent community to provide even better information to other members while having lots of fun.

We're hoping to have this rolled out within the next few weeks to have members start testing.

what type of program do you use to build the byc sight? dreamweaver?
i learned that my freshman year. i tooka class all about web stf iufncluding...

it was very interesting and im thinking of making my own sight and it is very time consuming!!

I use mostly dreamweaver, but also do a lot of editing in a simple text editor. I also use a bunch of programs for the pictures, etc.
