That's fine. Before picking out your horse, it's not a bad thing to be picky. You don't want just any horse.
 
i know but it would help me search. and picking a breed is important cause each breed has different abilities, in my case i want a taller horse that could jump well, do both english and western ( ive heard friesians are not very good at western

) has a more relaxed temperment. and has different color possiblities (i love dappled) so maybe a draft cross. or a vanner cross

heres a mare for sale on craigslist. not trained. shes a vanner paint cross. i love how shes built and her color but i dont like mares to many bad experences with them. i want a gelding

Not necessarily. It depends on what they were trained for. I ride a big 'ol blocky Paint who was built for and did Western and is just as good with English, and jumping.
 
QH's and Paints are great for all-around stuff, I know.

It just depends if you want to show or not. I've heard the Western type horses (QH and Paint) can do fairly well at English, but they're not the best if you want to show in English with picky judges, because they're not very good at keeping on the bit and such.
