It was really, really fun. I got to do a lot of cantering, and I finally figured out how to put on a horses bridle without someone helping me. It took a while, but luckily Mickey (the school horse I ride) is patient.

I wish I could lease him. He's such a good horse, well trained, patient, and my teacher says he likes me (But I'm not totally sure how true that is :p). Someone else is already leasing him though, and I'm not sure if two people can lease at one time. 3:
I finally got Haley to open her mouth for the bit, before she would raise her head up so high I couldn't reach her! A short girl with a tall mare doesn't always work.

I would have to go find a tall person then.

Same here. Mickey is such a butthead when it comes to putting his bridle on. He won't hold still! That, and his bridle has so many attachments (whatever their name is has escaped my mind...) that it's a struggle to figure out where each one goes. Also, he has this green goop in his mouth from grazing before tacking up. Yuck yuck yuck....

Hi folks, whassup?

Right now I'm riding a large (17 hh?), quarter horse/fox trotter cross mare. I like her so much better than those fast-stepping Arabs.
@ HCCLK - How's it going with Haley?
@ Diva - You might be able to work with MIckey's bridling by (from the left side) by sliding your right hand on his poll and in a commanding voice saying "Head do-wn." Then grasp (I forget the name, silly me) the top of his nose and bring it into you so you have control. Slide your hand (with the bit in it) under his mouth and don't let him tear away from your grasp as you ease the bit into his mouth. Sorry about this, horses with bridling crap are so annoying. :/

Quote: Oh god, I hate it when horses dislike to have their bridles put on. I definitely agree with Woo's advice. That's what I do when horses misbehave while I have them tacked up. Though I haven't had to do so in a while considering Molly tends to hold still when I bridle her.

Haley has only been being bad with the bridle the last couple of times I've tacked her up, I had gotten her to just take the bit. Problem with that is, whens he raises her head up, I can't reach her poll.

Other than that she's great, except she bucks, but not hard, it kinda hurts a little, but it happens.

I can completely tack her up all by myself now!

Before I'd always have to have people help me, which was a bit embarrassing, but I can do it all myself. I take her riding every day I can, like today, I'll probably head out, and I may stay out for 4 hours. I'm kinda checking out the road/trail my 4-H club is going to be going on on the 29th. And It's right down the road from my house, I just gotta saddle up and get going. Except for the dogs, there are some HUGE German Sheperd(SP?) type dogs on the way.

I know that this question isn't about horses, but does anyone have a silver laced wyandotte or a buff orpington or both? And if you do which one do you like better. But if you only have one how do you like it?
Well, not to be mean but, there are other threads for those questions, it would probably be a better idea to post on them.
