But,a quick?? What was she doing at a competition on a buted up horse? And medicating him on show grounds? In my breed if you give ANY of a list of drugs( bute is one of them), you cannot participate in the show or event.

She didn't give it to him until after he fell, and it was a little rodeo in a little town, not a show, I don't think she was even competing, the horse had to be put down for goodness sake. He would have been in extreme pain if she hadn't given it to him, and he could barely walk, she couldn't have competed if she'd wanted to.

Found out my friend chipped a bone in her ankle and badly sprained her wrist when her horse (the one that had to be put down) fell on her. She's in significant pain and she has a walking boot and some kind of cast for her wrist on. Her dad's horse has been standing at the gate of the pasture, looking for Cash. That would tear me up, walking out and seeing Tex(her dad's horse) looking for Cash.

She's really torn up. Cash was a whole lot to her.

That's sad. And the horse lived at her house, I she could actually see him out her bedroom window, he may have been in the yard too. Now their other horse is just standing at the fence looking for him.

Yeah, my mom was talking to her, and she said he was her best friend, her whole world, and she wanted to know why God took Cash from her. She's 15, and her life is kinda mixed up, Cash brought her dad back into her life. It's really sad.

When first reading it, it sounded like she gave bute to the horse BEFOREHAND. That was why I asked the questions. BTW, I have participated in Rodeo before. Most of the PRCA card carrying members take excellent care of their stock. An Animals health comes first always. To the OP, sometimes things just happen. Sorry it happened to your friend. I too have had one drop right under a friend. Healthy young 6yo starting into his prime. Had a necropsy, ruptured aorta. Nothing to be done. She had just mounted and was walking about 50 feet from the trailer. Maye Ride the Glide.....Got Gait.....I Do....

there is pretty much on QH built horses around, and the most well know gaited horses around here are TWH *sigh* that make it a little hard if i want to study horses to *maybe* become a judge some day >.<

i am one of the few that in my county in 4-h have a thin built horse that is not a walking stick *yes ducky, i mean diamond* and because of her age *22* i am planning for when the days come i cant do alot of shows on her, or do many trial rides, so i am tryig to find a breed/horse that would fit my needs, it will be a few years of course, but i will need to start saving money now
