A Are you in high school? If you are and wanting to study breeds, check into the FFA program. They have a horse judgeing program. And you can win scholarships for collage.

It's crazy how things happen. I remember when my mom was vetting a steeplechase race day and one of the horse had a heart attack while jumping a brush. It was awful
And one of the racehorses at the barn I work at randomly fractured her pelvic bone. All she was doing is trotting. Luckily we aren't putting her down. :)

Three of my horses have died in the past year. I found my mom's horse dead in the field last summer. ( Yes, FOUND. I was absolutely hysterical for like an hour before I managed to call someone... I was alone.) Then we put down the Shetland pony I learned to ride on in December. And 2 months ago my mare killed a retired horse we had in the field. She kicked him and broke his leg Complety through and we had to euthanize him.sucked :/

We found out he actually slipped into a hole. He's an off the track racehorse, he reared in the starting gate and flipped over, so he got pawned off on a 15-year-old. His bones were probably not as strong as they should have been from being pushed too hard at too young of an age, and I think he had a leg injury from flipping in a starting gate, and she runs that horse like crazy, and hard too. he also had a bb(SP???) in his butt, but I don't think that was affecting him.

I see. I wouldn't necessarily say pawning off, unless she is inexperienced. I got an OTTB last month who had never done anything but race. I'm training him, and he is doing quite well. :)
Sometimes they do misbehave in the gate, unfortuanately. My friend exercises, and she was riding one that tried to flip over, then dropped itself to the ground and tried to go UNDER the gate. She was perfectly fine though, just being spastic
If she runs that horse hard though, THAT would have been a major contributor. -.- hah. I'm not gonna rant on that.
Plus slipping in a hole :p my trainer's horse did that. He was an international level horse, lots of class... But he injured his tendon when he slipped. We were never able to bring him back to the international level :\
