I should have been doing (*starting*) my math homework and studying for a science test, but I got too into the conversation here and couldn't just leave!

So I should probably do that soon...
While I'm gone, you all can discuss Santa Claus and the story:

(for those who haven't heard it and want to)
Haha OK, here it is!

First of all, I've always believed in Santa Claus. I would always write him letters every Christmas Eve and leave them sitting on the table with some cookies ans milk for him, and then on Christmas morning I would run outside and see if I could see any sled tracks on the roof. I've actually seen some in my driveway before, strangely.

But anyways, I've always believed in Santa Claus purely because that's what I was told by my parents. Until I got to an age when my friends began saying that Santa Claus wasn't real and he was really their parents, I had always believed in him. When my friends started saying things like that, honestly I did begin to believe them. I mean, how could someone really travel around the world with flying reindeer and deliver millions of presents to children in one single night? Logic and reason seemed to go against everything I had been raised to believe in when it came to Santa Claus.
But while it seemed unbelievable, there were some things that made it seem possible after all. There was a YouTube video that I looked up that somewhere at a news station, they had a night camera set up in a particular spot on a building, overlooking a city. Some news casts have those set up in the city that they are broadcasting in. My news station does. Well, it happens that while the camera was recording, it caught something small flying across the sky that looked like Santa Claus and his reindeer. Now I know that there are hundreds of fake Santa Claus videos online that people submit. Most of them you can tell when they are fake.

But this one seemed really real. And I doubt a news station would try and fake that.

Well anyway, somehow just the videos and stuff wasn't enough to compete against the logic and reason. The only true way to know for sure was to see it with my own eyes.
And so, two years ago on Christmas Eve night, I wrote Santa a letter as usual. Only this time, I wrote to please prove to me somehow that he was real. Somehow, someway, just to prove once and for all that he's real. Well, that night, that's just what happened.
You see, I love using the online website for NORAD Santa Tracker. I use it every year to keep track of where Santa is at the time, according to the NORAD flight station and satellites. I stayed up until around 11:00pm-12:00am until NORAD showed that Santa was in the state I live in. I even have a journal of the places he stopped at, written at the time it happened. After it said he was in my state, I immediately went to bed. For a while, that is.
My younger brother, whose bedroom was next to mine, was still awake. I jumped out of bed to go tell him that he should go to bed, and when I walked into his bedroom I saw that he had his window wide open and was looking out it. Out of curiosity, I joined him and stayed there by the window, looking out. Nothing happened. I decided to go back to bed. But then, suddenly, my brother came and told me that he saw something flashing outside. I looked out my window, and noticed a strange flashing red light that was reflecting down onto the snow-covered ground. It would turn on, then off, then on, and off again. We also heard faint stomping coming from on top of the roof. My living room was directly below my brother's room, along with the living room window, which was below (and aligned) with the window that my brother had open. And since the Christmas tree lights were on, the light reflected onto the ground below the open window in my brother's room so we could see the shadow of the living room window. We saw two shadows of people that kept passing by the ling room window. My mother had gone to bed, and my step father was still awake. So if one of the shadows was my step father, who did the second shadow belong to??? We watched for a while, until eventually the flickering red light turned off and the moving shadows were gone. It was silent for a while, except for a strange breeze that kept blowing into the bedroom window. From the window, down a hill and through some trees, we could see our neighbor's house. The lights were out, and they weren't home at that time. Suddenly, because their house was facing us so that their sliding glass door was visible from the window, we saw one of their lights turn on. The sliding glass door leads to their living room, so we could see their Christmas tree and everything just barely through the thin tree line that separated our property from theirs. Anyways, their light turned on and we could see inside the living room. Then, right before our eyes, we saw a man in a red and white suit, walking around in the living room. We couldn't believe our eyes. I can remember myself whispering quietly, "It's him. It's actually him." For a moment I couldn't believe my eyes. And as I type this, I still have a hard time remembering it. But I know it was true because my brother saw it, too. There was no denying what our eyes had plainly seen. We watched silently as he disappeared and reappeared a couple times in that room, until after a few minutes, he was gone and all was silent again. We sat by the window and waited for several minutes after that, but nothing more happened and we finally went to bed sometime around 12:00am. And so, what a coincidence it was that when I wrote my letter to him, asking to somehow prove to me that he was real, after all these years of never once seeing him with my eyes, he revealed himself and both my brother and I saw him.

Also, just for the sake of it, I also have another story, which happened last year (or the Christmas following the one that happened two years ago). After the above story^^^ happened, I have always been wanting to see him again somehow. I created a thread on BYC last year, about the "Search for Santa" mission. My brother and I planned to set up his laptop with the webcam and record a video of the living room all night on Christmas Eve. And that's just what we did. We took his laptop, set up the recording program, and set up the laptop in the living room, facing the Christmas tree. We went on the NORAD Santa Tracker website and kept watch to see where he was. When he reached our state, we started recording with the laptop (which had a built-in webcam system), and went to bed. Once during the night, we decided to sneak downstairs to check and see if the camera was still working. We sneaked down and sure enough, it was. To save as much recording time as possible, we restarted the recording, just in case. We also pulled up a radio station on the laptop that played Christmas music, and turned off the screen light so it was just a black screen, so it seemed as though the laptop was just set up to play Christmas music. But as we were restarting the recording, we heard someone coming downstairs; it was our step father. We ran into the nearest room (my little's sister's room, where she was fast asleep) and hid in a corner. Our hiding spot wasn't all that great...It was pretty much in plain site, except for the darkness hiding us. Our step father opened the door and looked in. I seriously could have sworn that he saw us; we were right there in plain sight, except for, like I said, the darkness in the room. But all he did was ask my sister if she was asleep (which she was...so she didn't respond) and after he had seen that she was asleep, he shut her door and walked out and went back upstairs. We sat and waited until it was silent. We didn't want to get caught sneaking around downstairs, and we contemplated whether we should just sleep on the floor in our sister's room for tonight. But, as soon as we got the chance, we quickly and as silently as possible ran out of the room, back up the stairs and into our own bedrooms, satisfied that we had made sure the camera was still working.
In the morning, I excitedly awoke and my brother and I ran downstairs to check the camera. We were anxious to see what it had filmed during the night. But, surprisingly, the recording program had been closed out and the laptop lid had somehow been closed. Every single trace of any recorded file that had been taped the previous night was gone. It had just disappeared. Not one single trace of it was left. We searched the whole computer, even the "Trash" file, but nothing was found. My mother and step father swore that they didn't touch the laptop at all during the night.

So, that's the story.

Sorry it's so long!

My theory on Santa Claus is that he does, somehow, exist. But, he thing is, he only exists to those who believe he does. I think he is only visible to those who believes in him, and will only show himself if he wants to be seen. For those who don't believe, the reason why they don't ever see him and they've seen their parents putting presents under the tree on Christmas Eve night is because Santa Claus doesn't deliver presents to those who don't believe in the first place, and so their parents need to replace the presents that Santa doesn't bring to them.
But all I know is that as long as I remember what happened two years ago on Christmas Eve night, when my brother and I saw him with our own eyes, I will have some hope that he does exist.

Also, here are a few really realistic videos I found that have always seemed interesting to me. I can't seem to find the one with the news camera that caught him flying over the city, but I'll PM it to you if I ever find it!
