I GOT MY FIRST EGG!!! I GOT MY FIRST EGG!!!

I just went outside to the coop and found a tiny green egg in the middle of the coop floor!

I think it came from Hope, the oldest pullet, because I noticed yesterday that she was checking out the nest boxes more than usual. In fact, I predicted that she would start laying yesterday. So I was only a day off.

Not bad, eh?

But it's like a Christmas present from them!!

Maybe a day late, but still a pleasant Christmas surprise!

CONGRATS!!!! When my brahma laid her first egg she was in/out/in/out of coop and was outside the coop on the other side of the yard eating, and bam, egg popped out LOL!!! She got in the nestbox after that though

They actually lay on the roost, so then eggs fall to the ground. That's why I have to pile extra wood shavings under the roost. If they don't lay at 6 AM, they either lay in the nesting box or in the neighbor's yard (GAMMA!)
