Yes, I can tell you what I think happened.

It seems to me that some people were deciding that it would be fun to rebel against the rules of the game on the thread. But I don't think the original creator (Nikky) was on the same page. She asked you nicely to stop, but it seemed like everyone thought she was kidding and so they kept at it and wouldn't follow the rules. Think of it like the Pullets and Cockerals "war" back a while ago...Everyone thought it was funny and for a while, it was. But it eventually led to unneeded conflict. It's similar to this. If people had only followed the rules and not "revolted" out of immaturity against the rules of the game, the thread wouldn't have gone downhill.
I just find it a shame to have to lose a fun game thread. But nevertheless, it's over and done with now. Take it as a learning lesson for future reference, for those who may have contributed to it, and just move on.
