Hi everyone!
frow.gif

So I have a track meet tomorrow that I plan on running in...and I'm excited for it because I have a new pair of running spikes that I get to use. I've only used them once, a couple days ago during practice, to help break them in (because I've never used running spikes before). At the time, my socks were too thick for comfort to wear with the spikes (which are really light-weight, of course), so I decided to not wear socks with them.

Bad idea...

Soooo....now I have a big blister right on the back of my heel on my left foot.

I put antiseptic spray on it after practice and put a bandage over it last night and all day today. I ran again in practice today, this time with my socks and normal running shoes, and it definitely was a problem because it kept rubbing whenever I ran. In fact, I could barely walk without having to limp slightly because every step was kind of painful. I had a bandage over it to protect it, but that didn't help with the pain. So, I have a feeling it will be a problem in my race tomorrow (I'm running the 400meter and the 400meter relay).

...especially because I'm going to be wearing the running spikes again (although this time with thin socks

)

As of right now, I've just been keeping it clean and letting it get some air to dry out as much as possible...the blister popped the first time it showed up when I ran with the running spikes shoes, and I didn't notice it until afterwords, so now it's completely open and extremely sensitive to anything that touches it...which is why it has been so painful when I try to run. There is also still some fluid draining from it (I know, sorry if I gross some of you out...

).
So, any ideas on how I can help it heal as fast as possible and also to be less sensitive? I'm going to cover it with a layer of bandages tomorrow to help protect it, and I still plan on running at the meet. I just wish it hadn't happened right before the first meet of the season and in the worst place possible, so it will, unfortunately, affect my running.

Thanks!
