It will be a fox, and it will have 9 tails, and I'll name it Ran.

Curls: I used to like animals. I'm still here because of the great friends I've made.

What made you not like them?

I grew interested in other things.

That doesn't mean all of them are like that. I have two, one is fairly old, and he's never turned on me and is very sweet and intelligent.

If you don't mind me asking, what happened?

its a longish story:
it took 2 years to finally get my parents to let me get my first chickens. i got 4 3week old chicks. i loved them with all my heart! i had never been happier! a few weeks later, i move to ND. even more weeks later, my dads friend asks if we can dog sit his brittney spaniel. he says ok and it ends up with my losing my EE. weeks later, i buy 2 5month old pullets to keep the other 3 company. months later my dad decided we needed dogs. i ask for one because i wanted a puppy only 4 years earlier. so we get an australian shepherd and a blue heeler. months later we have a rat infestation in the barn, so the chickens free ranged during the day. the chickens and the dogs lwft each other alone outside for nearly 3 weeks, then out if the blue, they kill my most loved, favorite, and friendly pullet along with my rooster that liked my lap. they also injured another pullet who suffered until she died 2 days later.

that was the beggining of a bad relationship between me and any dog. i thought it could not get any worse. a poor EE hen and bantam rooster were left and destined to be re-homed. but only a week ago, my rooster got out and his whole body still hasn't been found. only parts.

those dogs took away what i loved with all my heart. and let me tell you something, if i wasn't over 1000 miles away from home when my last rooster was killed, there'd be 2 less dogs on that farm

But you musn't blame the dogs for what their natural instincts are. I know this is tough to listen to, and I hate telling you this, its quite hard really. But they didn't know what they were doing was wrong, ecspecially if they were puppies. Just like little kids, you can't just expect them to do what is right.

I'm still very sorry, I would be devastated if one of my dogs killed my chickens.

Beating them up won't do anything. I'm not quite sure what it does, but it doesn't help the cause. It normally takes time, and patience, but eventually you get throught to them. I know, it seems so easy just to go off and beat them, but it teaches them (Just now remembering) To be mean, and act bad. I've felt the same way when it came to our new puppy. He used to have accidents ALOT, and I would get sooo mad at him. I just wanted to kick him, but I knew that wouldn't be right. When your dealing with puppies (Just like children) You have to show them what is right, and praise them when they do it. When they do something bad , don't beat them, and don't yell. It just makes things worse.

it took a lot of "no"s to get me to the point of kicking, which was surprizingly fast. aussies and heelers are supposed to be smart, but believe you me, they aren't! i would much rather a smart cat than a dumb dog

They're are only smart if you make them that way. They may seem to be stupid, and most times they do, believe me, but its sort of like teaching a toddler. Yes, at times they seem stupid, but they're still learning and need help. And when I say help, I mean, ALOT. I have two younger brothers who are currently in school, and they are tough nuts to crack. One just won't listen, while the other is too loud to care!

Well, I like cats and dogs both. I have both, and I love them all! We have three dogs (One Labrador, one German shepard, and one Caryn terrier) Ozzie is probably the best, sweetest dog you will ever meet, Benny is very tame and loyal, and playful, and William, weeelll, lets just say that he'sm erm, "Special" And a cat named Gimli. He's only nice to people he likes (My older brother and I)

I g2g to bed, night!

We've got 5 dogs and like 40+ chickens (as well as turkeys and pigeons). They get along fine now, but it took some training.
