well we have to wash the plates we put it on
we always use plates
we are not normal 20 y/o dudes
without plates, the cheese drips onto our laps instead
those pizzas, all cheese and no meat
you sometimes wonder what you are paying for

sodium hydroxide... I remember something about that from high school science
was that the stuff that reacts with magnesium?

Not normal? You mean to say that some people eat pizza without a plate?

How about adding meat? Or even better, make your own!
As for washing plate with cheese on them, well yeah, that'll cause problems, but you should have a mesh thing that goes on top of the drain in the sink that would catch it.

Sorry, i don't even know where i gained all the plumbing knowledge from.

I think you'll need to replace the pipes, especially if they're the old-fashioned metal ones that rust easily.
towels for foul water? how about catching it in a bucket, or if not, newspaper.
