Shadeheart was oblivious to Lark's presence at first, but in the process of scenting a vole, she smelled her. Surprised, Shadeheart mis-stepped and pinched her paw between two rocks. She cried out and jumped backwards. Her paw was bleeding. She looked all around her, but couldn't see Lark anywhere. Scared, she called out into the bushes,

"Why are you following me?"
