*°Hell as White as Snow°* (A Role Play)

(I didn't get notified about this:he)

Janette discreetly watched the exchange from where she stood by the fire. She heard enough to know they weren't going to kick her out, which was definitely a relief, but there were too many other factors at hand to settle down much now.

Nora looked over at Janette while she prepared the food. "We have baked beans and some soup, and in a little bit when we've eaten and I have a free pot I'll melt some ice for water. I know its not much but its better then nothing and we are happy to share it with you." Nora gave her a warm smile and continued cooking. She was thankful she remembered to grab a few pots and utensils, she had a few paper plates and one tin mug. Now that there were three of them she would have to look for more in those houses later. Having small comforts like your own glass or plate made things feel a little less dire.

(It's a war in medieval times, and is a RP about assassins and mercenaries from two empires who hate each other. Like the idea or not that much?)
(ooh that sounds fun, it has two things I really like assassins and mercs. I would totally be interested once you get it up and running. I would be happy to help too but to be honest I don't know if I would have any good ideas. But if you want you can PM me.)

"Thank you," Janette said, truly grateful and touched by Nora's willingness to share. But kindness wasn't the only way for surviving with strangers. She needed facts, assurances that she could trust them. "If you don't mind me asking, what do you recall from before you awoke?" She asked tentatively.

Nora stopped what she was doing and looked at Janette. "To be honest I don't know how this happened or how I got here. Aside from that I remember almost everything about my life before. I lived in the PNW, I was a vet always loved working with animals." Nora said with a smile remembering how much she enjoyed her work. Then her face fell a little, "I left behind a lot of friends, I have no idea if they are out there somewhere or not, and I lost my parents along time ago. And my dog Mack, I wish I knew what happened to him. He was the only family I had left." Nora said her eyes tearing up a little remembering how life used to be.

Janette listened quietly, taking in the facts listed as well as thinking on her own simultaneously. As Nora's basic background was explained, she definitely began feeling bad for the woman who had left behind even more than herself, considering she hadn't even owned a dog. She adjusted the blanket around her shoulders and glanced behind her, checking to make sure nothing was at her back, a strange fear she had. When the woman finished talking, the investigative streak in Janette pushed for more. "How much can you recall up to the day before...this?" She asked, glancing Nora's way.

"An interrogation huh, fair enough your trying to figure out if you can trust us." Nora said with a nod as she wiped her tears away and screwed up her face a bit trying to remember her last events in her life before waking up here. "It was uh fall, I was driving home from work and trying to figure out what to cook for dinner. I was listening on the radio about the clean up efforts and those lost at those horrible 9/11 attacks. I remember I turned off the radio because I was so disgusted with what happened there. I got home, said hi to Mack and then nothing. It just all goes dark." Nora had a faraway look in her eyes as she tried to recall anything beyond that point.

"Huh??" Janette stared hard at Nora, not quite sure if she heard all the correctly. "What—why would discussion of 9/11 be on the radio?" She asked. Realization hit her: duh. It was an anniversary to that day, that's why there was talk about it. "Oh, never mind. You had me confused for a minute there," she chuckled nervously. Despite the overall weirdness of their situation, there was something else that was off. Nora's clothes, for instance. Looked like she just walked out of 2000—not that Janette knew 2000, but naturally she had seen movies and pictures from then. Of course the clothes would have been rude to point out, so Janette didn't. Instead, byway of explaining her questions, she said, "I'm a detective. Interrogations are a part of my job."

Nora gave her a weird look, "Of course it was playing on the radio it had just happened like a few days ago, it was all any station would talk about. Ah the interrogation makes sense then." Nora said with a nod
