Laine churred to herself. She lay her beak flat on the mound of sand in front of her, cocking her head at SnowFeather. 'Say, how do y'all stay so strong and buff?'

Snowfeather shook some dirt into her feathers "Being a Warrior is hard physical work. The long patrols, hunting trips and battles. You have to be in shape for that" She explained

Laine nodded - it looked like she would have a lot to work on.

'He sure didn't show it. He pecked the rest of us mercilessly - so much so that some of my friends ran away and were killed on the streets. But I stuck it out... and here I am today.'

Laine nodded. 'I wish someone had done that all those months ago. It would have saved many lives. Chickens that were friends to me, very good friends. But alas, I had no idea how to fight, so all I could do was watch and snatch his chips away.'
Laine kicked a little sand into her feathers too. She decided to move - her body was heating the sand up and she wanted a cool spot.
