this is my first edited pic!! I tried smudging because it looked awesome when others did it

So... can anyone give me ideas to make it better?

You should smudge the background, but becareful when doing so, you don't want to mess up the chicken. And the head on the chicken needs smudging (careful) with maybe a 7 px size smudge,
