Dove raised her head weakly. "It's not the brook, but you can look if you want. You won't find anything." She coughed, a deep, wracking cough that came from the center of her chest. "It's the sickness. Osprey knows. How I know she knows I do not know--" (

try figuring that one out) "--but I know. Osprey will tell you what to do. The Creator has told me - Osprey knows. She knows. She knows. She knows..." Dove continued, her eyes closing, in something of a lullaby to herself. "She knows... she knows, Dove... she knows..."
Lion put his muzzle to her skin and flinched. "She's hot," she said in a husky voice. "The fever's bad. She's delirious." Swallowing, he scooted a short distance away from her.​

Snake lay, on the top of a hill not too far from Snowpack, heavily sighing with melancholy, her sad eyes downcast.
 
Crow panted heavily, he stood on the border of camp looking in, watching silently.
