I'd say it's either a White Rock or a Red Sex Link roo.

I'm leaning towards a Red Sex Link roo.

It was meant in a joking manner but since someone is apparently on a warpath...

Even hatchery Buff Orps have white legs. Since the BO and Buff Rocks tend to have the same body style (thanks to production breeding rather than standard breedings) the only difference between the two (and this is JUST a generalization) is the skin/leg/beak color.

You might want to remove your caps...someone might get testy with you. I'd hate for someone to take it the wrong way!

Buff Orpington: White legs

Buff Rock: Yellow Legs

Now, with good layers, the older a bird gets, the lighter the color of the legs become...so that it gets VERY difficult to tell the difference between the two production-bred breeds.


And I am NOT saying that production bred is a bad thing. They make very good layers, mothers and are great pets!

I agree with Rodriquezpoultry on this one. That chick is NOT a Buff Orpington. Even white Rocks dont have buff tint to the feathers tho.

Yes, those caps sounds testy and if you decide to go on a debate, go to the UOC club and they will ALL say it is NOT an Orp.

Production birds are a challenge at best for me.

Production birds sometimes frustrate me. Why somebody couldn't make a pretty bird according to the standard that also lays lots of eggs is beyond me....if somebody can create the sebright, I'm pretty sure that you can make an exhibition quality (which tend to be pretty good layers anyway) BO that lays really well. And in a lot less time then John Sebright did.
